I've only seen the dub movies, which have their own brand of comedy for being so obviously phoned-in. Especially Shinshiro's deadpan, "Whaaaah," every time anything happens.

The plot is pretty average super-robot stuff, though. Nothing outstanding, but if you like the genre and the era then you'll like it.
