I certainly don't know if I could recommend to anyone. Perhaps the mass of people would not like it, but M3 has some of the best things in terms of character dynamics I've seen when it comes to mecha. I'd like to see more of it often.

Okada wrote it initially as a light-hearted, sci-fi, mecha romcom titled "Rainbow Metal: Magical Miracle Machine". However Takeda forgot to put in the order for the anime's colors at the Color Factory. When the studio found out about this, it was already too late, Kyoani had already bought out all the bright and cheery colors for the season. They had no choice but to delay the anime and retool it entirely using the dark and gloomy colors left on the shelves. The anime was renamed "M3: The Dark Metal"...They've never really figured out what "M3" is supposed to mean now.
