How did we go from this...
>>15192826
...to this?
>>15192826
We realized that giant robots like the original wouldn't actually be able to move with that level of articulation
>>15192842
The robots in Gridman weren't very articulate, though, which is why they're not used very often compared to Gridman just wearing them as suits. Gridman's powered up modes relatively mobile mobile because the armors don't really cover his elbows and knees. You can even see the uncovered knees in >>15192832.
Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad thread?
>>15192853
I still have my Gridman toys lying around somewhere. Especially for something from that time period, the posability is insane.
>>15192826
Optimus? Is that you?
What was the difference between sabans version of this show and japans? I had watched a bunch of the north american version and it reminded me of ultraman with badass robot armor.
>>15192856
Khilolhan remains Tim Curry's greatest role.
>>15192986
It was actually a co-production between Takara and Tsuburaya productions, so Zenon looking like Optimus and Gridman looking like Ultraman was not a coincidence.
>>15192994
Actually, Saban wasn't involved at all for once, SSSS was done by DiC.
>>15192826
>9th birthday
>got this
Hail Zenon.

Zenon > Dina Dragon

1.) Take it apart
2.) Turn all the pieces INSIDE OUT
3.) Wrap them around an ultraman
One of the best damn combiner toys ever, shame that it just got the one series
I think Gridman had the best looking kaiju of all the 90's Ultras. It's a shame there aren't many pictures of them.
>>15194378
Case in point
>>15192832
Did he meet Obari or his friends?
>>15192986
It's Optimus made out of Getters that Ultraman can use as armor when he isn't already wearing red Trypticon like Dragon Caesar.
Truly excellent toys. Highly recommended if you can get your hands on them.
>Gridman: temporary hiatus due to translator being busy
Here's to hoping /m/ Subs can resume that project soon.

wasn't there an optimus that was based on this design, especially the chest in head. Aside from the obvious prime-esque features, I swear there's a prime styled after this guy.
>>15201085
He has a lot of Ginrai elements to his design.
>>15201085
machine wars optimus maybe.
>>15201002
>>15201009
Are these the ultra acts?
>>15201002
fuck you and your drago, you know how hard it is to find the deluxe version with all parts?
>>15192994
beside the change of setting, the main difference was that in the Japanese original, Gridman was Cyberspace Ultraman and the vehicls unmanned.
In the American version, Servo was the main kid transformed and the vehicles driven by his friends.
Most everything else was basically the same, if adapted for the american audience.
>>15203276
I'm quite sure they aren't. Ultra-Act doesn't have that dragon, for one thing.
>>15203274
Machine Wars Optimus was a repaint of Thunderclash, who predates Gridman, so it probably wasn't styled after anything in the show.
>>15203276
Those are the original toys. The base Gridman figure had a crapton of posability and it carries over to both King and Thunder in every regard but the neck.
>>15199744
IIRC, the animator for the short was highly influenced by Obari. And worked on his SRW anime.
>>15201002
>>15201009
Shit, I got those figures too. Second-hand mind, but they're pretty fun figures.
>>15194378
They're straight up kitbashes and remodels of Ultra kaiju.
Good kitbashes and remodels, but still kitbashes and remodels.
>All these just out of reach toku mecha and kaiju.
>Never get to see them outside of the same 3 amvs
>>15208118
Jesus Christ that looks fucking awesome
>>15208118
Oh, justirisers? They toys look pretty neat, being very articulated and all that
>>15192826
>can't even bend legs, let alone move them
its shit
>>15208118
>>15209270
>>15209524
Yeah, Justirisers had some cool designs. The suits and mechs were pretty awesome all around.
>>15209611
The toy of JustiKaiser
>>15192832
Still a big pity it's just a short.
Stupid trademark holders won't allow for a Gridman anime...
>>15201085
Transformers Energon had a super mode that looked similar to this. Don't know the jap name.
>>15211848
Superlink.
>>15201085
Fire Convoy's super mode is a lot like it?
Line The Barbarian is superior.
>>15212812
I don't see it.
>>15201085
>>15215015
That chest looks familiar
>>15209627
>What kind of robot do you want, senpai?
>>15213239
You got me so fucking excited with that DVD art.

well my country used to airs those stuff. Gransazers, Sazer X and Justirizers
Sazer X was the most lighthearted of the three. the team rocket villains became good guys on the 2nd half
Gransazers had awesome first half when they trying to find the other 6 warriors, after that it kinda s slog. awful ending.
can't remember much about Justirizers but i do remember it has LONG mecha sequence, like 20 minutes of mecha kaiju actions in 30 minutes episode
>>15216572
>Gransazers had awesome first half when they trying to find the other 6 warriors, after that it kinda s slog. awful ending.
If any toku show has Soichiro Akaboshi as an actor in it, be wary of the show's quality (nothing against him though, he's a fun wacky fellow).
Heck, I wonder why they didn't have him show up in the Sazer X show itself instead of the movie, it'd have been a perfect fit.
>>15205887
They're more homage, I think.
>>15213239
never heard of this one before
>>15209627
Man, these things had some cool combos. Seems like the main dragon could combine with any of his buddies.
How did we go from this...
>>15219325
To this...
>>15219326
And this?
>>15192826
King Gridman > the rest
>>15205887
I don't know what you're talking about
>>15219480
Huh. Blue and yellow are always the feet.
