If these. I was afraid they would fuck up the designs but seem like, at the very least, the movie will not suck in this department. They're nowhere as visually distinct as the original bunch, which is a real shame. A lot of the charm of the first movie's designs was that each one was unique and had instantly recognizable features like Cherno's cooling tower or Typhoon's three arms. These look pretty generic.

They look really bland and generic looking. This also reinforces my fear that the mecha will be a lot less like giant behemoths and their fights are just going to be metal people jumping around and doing flips. Now you dedicated shitposters might be getting ready with "but anon, striker eureka did all kinds of flips and shit and everyone loved that" but that was what made striker unique, this looks like its setting up for all the jaegars to just be the same thing. Also makes me fear it's true that we are going to get more human fighting like the rumor said.

Del toro no longer being attached was a death sentence, everything new they show makes me fear what this movie is becoming. And it makes me sad that it's going to become this generic mess and in turn become a greater financial success and will probably garner an attempt at a cinematic universe.

This is the most worrying thing for someone that's still cautiously optimistic. The sets, props and effects were fantastic. Cinematography must not suffer.

I think the budget things makes a bit of sense, the resources are already developed, they can reuse most assets from the first movie.

I've to see their value but I just can't like the new Jagers. They are some of the dullest mecha ever. They're so painfully generic. They're not homages, just derivative of mainstream robots like currently-airing Transformers designs. There's no attempt be interesting, virtually no attempt at character or flair - they're something out of one of Thew's Knockoff Beatdowns.

I just can't like them.

that's the final straw for me

what made me really love the first film was it's heavy use of practical effects, from the pilot suits and all the working components on them to the real working cockpits

it made it feel real, a labor of love to bring something fantastic to life, and now with all that i'm seeing from the new movie, it just looks so generic and soulless

mind you, i'll probably still watch it, but man, nothing i've seen from it so far makes me any amount optimistic
