Pretty much what >>15188253 said, it just comes with the territory. At least this version of Guan Yu and Zhang Fei are likable enough. Liu Bei's more hit and miss, but I'd still say he's better than most portrayals of him.

It's solid mindless fun. I recommend watching it with the dub for maximum cheesiness, though you miss out on TAMASHI if you do so.

Even then, in Romance of the Three Kingdoms it's pretty blatant that Liu Bei and his cult of personality are blithering fucks. Most of it's just has an addendum along the lines of "but he did it for the Han Dynasty so he didn't do anything wrong, really".

But then, BBW is a really rough and loose adaptation of it all. Plenty of liberties and what not that change events further down the line, such as Cao Cao dying/ vanishing at the end of the Battle of Chibi in BBW, or Zhuge Liang killing Sima Yi.
Essentially, as the story moves forward, it further distances itself from ROoTK lore.
