To be fair I felt that, sure, Jasley dying was anti-climatic and all, but I mean isn't the whole point to show how pointless revenge is in general? I actually like that. The death felt like another means to an end rather than any kind of personal fulfilment to Orga. Here is the man responsible for getting Naze, Amida and Lafter killed begging for his life and Orga feels nothing for ordering his execution but a sort of tacit "what's next then?" silent vibe shortly afterwards.

My guess is that in the final arc, McGillis will say Tekkadan don't deserve the throne of Mars and refuses to give it to them. Think about it, McGillis is all about stamping out the corruption corruption within Gjallarhorn yet here he is offering to make them Kings in return for their support. That would be a massive act of corruption from the guy cleaning house, so it would make sense to deny them it. Not to mention he has to give it to them. His whole philosophy is that people have to earn status and power, yet all the power and status Tekkadan have obtained for themselves have been given to them by others and LOST! Their weaknesses as an organization are becoming more apparent, yet we're still expected to believe McGillis will just hand Orga the crown?

Considering what he did to his only friend in season one, McGillis will sacrifice anything for his dream. This includes Tekkadan.

Nah, McGillis isn't going to betray Tekkadan, he's too emotionally and politically invested in them. If anything, it would more likely be Tekkadan that betrays McGillis when they start to feel that he isn't the guy they thought he was and is actually a psychotic megalomaniac with delusions of grandeur who wants to make the kids in Tekkadan just like him.

Really, it will all boil down to Orga and Mikazuki. That is, whether Orga is enough like McGillis that the two will continue to be comrades because Orga deep down is as emotionally damaged by his shitty life as McGillis and whether Mikazuki will continue to follow Orga if Orga continues to follow McGillis.

Honestly, my prediction is that McGillis is going to want to make Tekkadan an extension of Gjallarhorn and thus an extension of his own authority in the new world order. Basically, Orga is going to become King of Mars (perhaps acting like it's a case of Tekkadan being king when it's really just him cause he's the only one with the ambition or intelligence to understand what that means) and will have an equal say with the new members of Neo-Gjallarhorn under McGillis' absolute rule. If Orga takes the bait, then Kudelia and some others close to Tekkadan will likely go against him, at which point Mikazuki will probably finally have to decide whether he will continue to be Orga's vessel or whether he cares enough about those people he knows who have decided that Orga's ambition isn't theirs that he will go against Orga.

They have done literally zero to set up any kind of relationship between the two. If they wanted to stirr drama from this then they shot themselves in the foot by ignoring it so much. Furthermore, unless they adress Yamagi's feelings, something they have been terribly reluctant about since forever, they won't be able to capitalize on the drama in any way. They'd need to give it a bit of focus if they wanted to kill it off and I just don't see this happening. For this reason combined with the fact that they're irrelevant to the plot I think they're relatively safe.

Oh come on. Just because they haven't explicitly shown them kissing or dating doesn't mean they haven't been teasing it just as thoroughly as they did Lafter and Akihiro. They keep showing the characters together and putting them in close physical contact, with one carrying on cheerily and the other miming silently. It's only different in that other characters haven't made vocal commentary about it.

You need to pay more attention because that literally never happens anymore. So far they've been shown together once and beyond that not even a single background shot. It stands in such contrast to the first season that it almost looks like they're going out of their way to avoid showing them together. Just take the last episode as an example, it cuts off right before a possible interaction. Any kind of build up they might've had has been pretty much negated by how much S2 has neglected it and shot it down. Now I'm not saying this guarantees they won't kill it because hell they very well might if they feel gratuitously dickish. But the necessary drama-breeding elements are simply not there.

S2 has been alienating its fujo demographic to the point of losing most of their following. Not only with this pairing, but pretty much any pairing that isn't Orga/Mika. And even with that it shits the bed by having Mika talk about giving Atra his semen.

Shino's not a fuck up of comedic levels, he has a much more dangerous 'older brother' aura round him. But killing him will amount to nothing. He's not a very plot-relevant character himself, and the characters who'd have the strongest reaction to his death (Yamagi, Eugene) have been marginalized so hard it won't even matter. And if the show suddenly tries to act like it does matter it'll only look awkward and out of place. Also because his relationships with them have been marginalized just as much.

The Hashmal could have been awesome but then it killed no one significant, only really killed 1 settlement and there seems to have been no consequences for that, and the beam couldn't actually destroy MS. Then Mika styled all over it. So it really never got to show off any kind of impressive capabilities.

Even the Pluma were a waste because Ride was literally able to just punch out dozens of them after being nuked by the beam.

The whole thing was a waste, because for one reason, it took 3/4ths into the series to even bring it up, and after it was it was completely disregarded only serving as a power-up to Barbotos, and plot convenience to use against Rustal's faction. By trying to make it look like a threat, the anime staff gave it broken abilities that create plot holes on the backstory of 300 years ago. By it's showing, all it turned out to be was a blatantly created plot device to move the story forward.
