Judau is a middling to good pilot with an op suit who doesn't use is newtypes power enough. But basically he isn't that different to what Amuro was, only Amuro kept on using and developing his powers alongside his piloting skill. Main problem of Judau compared to Kamille and Amuro imho is that he never really wants to fight or become good. He gets good enough and then lets the ZZ assure him of his superiority, and since there is more or less no other suit more powerful in ZZ, but maybe the Queen Mansa...

Kamille is the worst pilot, but can read minds like fucking Xavier. Amuro is a battle machine.

Although Banagher did travel through time and see ghosts and block huge colony lasers and become a hand-waving psychic monster who can shut off a wave of mobile suits with a thought, those feats were only possible through the shitton of pyschoframe the Unicorn has.
Unicorn kind of sticks out in the UC timeline, as now we see that Gundams reached this level of crazy psychic bullshit, yet by the time F91 and later Victory roll around it's completely gone. There's no mention as to what exactly happened to the three RX-0 units.

Maybe Unicorn isn't actually part of the main UC timeline, but takes place in some alt-UC that branched off after 0093. So in the base universe, after Char's attack against the Earth psychoframe projects were shut down and never used again. But in the alternate Unicorn timeline, humanity instead went full-force in developing psychoframe mobile suits, and will lead to every pilot being space wizards flying mobile suits with green psychoframe shooting mindbullets at each other.

I always figured that they worked differently.

You had the "connection new-types", that excel at linking New-types together and strengthening them.That would be Lalah and Kamilla.
Then you have "technical New-types." Ones that excel at using their new type abilities to enhance this piloting skills on a technical level. Like what Amuro and Uso do.
Then you have your "raw powered New-types" that excel at using their abilities for physical attacks. That would your Haman, Judau and Scirocco.
