This is so stupid. The banana yellow claws make it look like a toy. The proportions are all fucked up. One of the best things about Barbatos's original design was it looked lean and mean. Now it looks like a big-armed manlet. The original concept has just been completely fucked. It can't even move properly, the sub-arms in the arms are pointless, the best part of it, the wire tail, looks stupid because of that weird hook at the end of it for no reason, the mace is actually too big and spiky to the point of silliness. It's just a hideous design all around. It genuinely looks like a Digimon. If you painted this gray and red, put skull decals on it, and said it was MechaWargreymon I would believe it.

Before we get all contrarian up in here:
1.) I'm a fan of the "lost ancient superweapon" theme.

2.) Beam resistant armor is essentially just heat resistant armor, so it makes sense. No problems with the setting only using kinetic/impact weaponry and the no-beams rule works.

3.)Yes the theme of war in the past has been done before. But what essentially was Terminator: Judgement Day in the Gundam universe has not. That is a neat take on "apocalyptic conflict" done in other series (X Mass colony drop, OYW, Bloody Valentine War).

4.) I like thematic usage in mech shows. Angels vs Demons is neat, especially if the "good" faction is using the normally "bad" things.

3.) 2nd Season actually gave a bit more insight to the Post Disaster era. We know now that humanity expanded a good bit into the solar system at one point, then built the Mobile Armors. The MAs went rogue at one point and pushed humanity back to essentially Mars and Earth. Humanity created the Mobile Suits and gave them beam-proof armor to stand up to the MAs. When that wasn't enough, they created 72 super MS with biblical names to oppose the MAs. Humanity won, billions died, most of the Gundams were lost and technology entered a stagnant age with the new ruling power.

I won't say IBO is my favorite Gundam series. Its far from it. But I really enjoy the lore that has been revealed so far and the setting we have.

ZERO - Zoning & Emotional Range Omitted. Basically, it beams information straight into the brain and constantly computes both possible and likely outcomes based on the data it's taking in. It isn't so much that it's psychic, it's just processing all the combat data and highlighting what it deems the most likely course of action that will bring about the best tactical outcome, faster than the pilot could and without emotional hang-ups.

In that way, it's kind of like a cross between F91's Bio-Computer and.. whatever that predictive system was Guld was using in Macross Plus. Only it also causes LOL HALLUCINATIONS that cause whatever pilot to get over their antisocial shit and start working with the others. Or just because an emotionless killing machine under the suit's influence, one or the other.

All that other shit of ZERO being sentient was the same old same old that's been in Gundam from the start, where the giant humanoid thing is a character in itself and sometimes they have it act on its own on thin reasoning. At least until Frozen Teardrop where they made it into some poor-man's VEDA or some nonsense. Pretty good for being stored on floppy disk.

Problem with that is the Suits systems are probably already calibrated to compensate for over-stimulation in most situations.
Camera's can adjust far faster than human eyes can after all, and aren't as badly damaged from such exposure if at all.

No, it is implied during the Hammerhead sortie that they've not only done it before but also seem to be proficient at it. Maruba says something like "these space rats do stuff like that."
