Only about 2 minutes of new footage and very slight touchups throughout. Watch the OVA so you avoid the needless OPs, Recaps and EDs that take up half the running time.

What new footage? Aside from one re-animated hand shot in episode 1, I literally didn't see anything.

Not that the TV show is a terrible watch. Either format is fine, really, but I can't recall 'any' differences. If anything, the transition from OVA 5 to 6 was actually trimmed down to make it one scene.
