I've always thought of Alberto's love for her as something that's very one-sided. It's clearer in the novels where his love hinges on borderline rape. Even his aunt encourages him to rape her while she was out of it.

But it's still quite ambiguous I guess, we might never know for sure if he loves her as a parental figure or as an actual lover. The latter really does make me cringe hard tho.
