Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn OVA

I love it. Feels more like a proper UC entry than any other oav they've shit out in the timeline. It's also nice that it has callbacks to all the shows, rather than just 0079.

Other than the animation and maybe like one track of the entire ost, it was a rather wasteful series that made up shitty drama for the sake of it. It was like bad fan fiction.

It attempts to be hard hitting but actually isn't, because the plot was retarded in the first place. The annoying characters didn't help.

Unicorn often gets lambasted as Zeonwank written by a Japanese neo-fascist, but I actually found that many elements of Zeon were handled pretty well. Full Frontal is an interesting meta-commentary on Char clones in the Gundam series, we get good insights into why the Spacenoids keep following maniacal leaders, the whole speech about how Zeonism has become a sort of religion in itself makes for interesting parallels to other political movements, and Marida is just a great character overall.

Really the only glaring Zeek dickriding that hurts the series was Laplace's Box.

This. It wasn't until the overlong end of episode 7 that I felt particularly bothered by Unicorn, and that was something the writers could have fixed instead of wasting time thinking about shit like the Neo Zeong.

Even something simple like a declaration signed by the Zabis and the Federation that Zeon would have independence, that would be better than

Besides a few problems like the romance and the lack of backstory and screentime of Full Frontal and Angelo, I thought Unicorn was fantastic. It felt like a better conclusion to the Early UC than CCA ever did.

Personally I liked it. I just view it like Stardust Memory. The story, forced drama, and majority of the characters are just meh but you still watch it for the mecha porn and badass battles.

The writing wasn't as inconsistent as other Gundam OVAs. Some of the plot was a little too convenient. Laplace's box was a good reveal. I wish there was more character development. So many characters with interesting backstories and motivations that were either gleaned over or unresolved.
