Big picture, ZZ isn't particularly interesting and doesn't explain a whole lot. As far as CCA is concerned, ZZ's only relevance is telling you where the fuck Haman and her Zeon revival went. ZZ isn't a bad show, though. It's just not a great one. I think it's worth watching at least once. It gets better as it goes.

What makes you think that CCA is worthier than Zeta or Double Zeta exactly?
I've watched the three not so long ago, CCA has the exact same problems and virtues than Zeta with ZZ being somehow a contrast to those both.

Frankly, CCA isn't the pearl than some people claim it to be as it's filled with the exact same bullshit that there is in Zeta (that is KIDS for starters). It's not bad and the animation is terrific, but to think that you should skip stuff to get to it faster is ridiculous.

The three first series are all ok for different reasons.

I think Zeta is pretty great all the way through, pacing issues aside.

I don't feel this way about CCA, but CCA has the benefit of being thematically conclusive. It should've marked the end for Gundam. I agree that rushing to it is a mistake, though.

Basically this.

In my opinion the first three series and the movie are a whole, which has its highs and lows (like pretty much every Gundam entry). If you start skipping stuff because it's not all good you'll probably end up skipping everything.

Zeta is certainly overall good, I liked it but there is some long parts (3-4 episodes long here and there) which felt really bad for me (basically everything Rosamia and Katz) and I've felt that the exact same issue are there in CCA (Quess and Hathaway). It wasn't some bad plot convolutions (I actually liked what it did to Kamille for instance and the relation between the kiddy kids with Amuro and Char is interesting), it's the way they are done that is so cringy and unnerving, characters are unlikable as hell.

But then the beginning and end of Zeta is superb, i really liked the Honk Kong part with Four and Amuro (Beltorchika's antics though...). The action is nicer, the characters are mostly very very good (Paptimus is a brilliant villain) and more varied than in MSG. It's a good series but it's not without glaring issues.

CCA is the same, everything Amuro and Char is crazy good, fights are some of the bests (Amuro blasting everything left and right is oddly satisfying - dat "poor" Gyunei though), Mechs and ships design are great, good conclusion of the rivalry, but then it has the same issues of kids as Zeta, I mean... we get it now, it's Char and Lalah all over again... kids with big mechs are an issue as much as the solution... we get it! I do think we could have had Quess and Hathaway entirely out of the picture, Gyunei in the Alpha Azieru and it would have worked wonders, but nope. Also pointless deaths of great great supporting characters, fuck you Tomino.
CCA is good for a lot of things, but thinking that it's peak gundam and that you should skip stuff to see it faster (and lose all of what's make it important) is ridiculous. Sure you could skip ZZ, but not Zeta in any way.

Series. Most Gundam movies are way too rushed and badly paced to hold up to the more drawn-out series.

It's significantly more disconnected from the overall world and history of the Early UC, but it's good in its own little way.

If anything, the relative lack of overly autistic characters and sociopaths makes it a good breath of fresh air from from the rest of the trilogy, and serves as a good buffer before going back into the more traditionally melodramatic tone of CCA.

Zeta movies only make sense if you watched the show.

I started with them and had no idea what was going on half the time. Characters would be introduced and then die like 10 minutes later and I wasn't sure why I was supposed to care.
