I think the "colour problem" is more of a culture shock thing. Aversions and preferences to various colours. The implimentation of colour theory probably is effected by this too.

BTW, this is neat. I googled "Red" and "Pink" into google translate. Look what came out:

Red = 赤 (aka)
Pink - ピンク (pinku)

I don't think Japan has a conceptualisation of pink and red being different colours. They clearly lack a traditional word for it as "Pinku" is obviously based on the English term for "pink".

When we see a light brown colour and a dark brown colour they don't strike us as distinct. It's all just variations on brown. We do however consider pink and red to be distinctly different colours. They don't. For them pink is just a varient of red.

So while we see Flauros as pink with yellow highlights that doesn't work for us, but they see it as red with yellow highlights, and that works for them.

There is no colour issue, just a culture issue.

Nah. Japanese see Flauros as pink and it works for them because they're not insecure faggots like /m/, anon. The coloring is very intentionally unusual for a mecha as it goes along with Shino's characterisation as a quirky fella, which is acknowledged in the show by various characters commenting on it. Japs are just not as ass blasted by it because they are not constrained by our retarded standards. They simply see a strong, vibrant color which stands out from the crowd and firts with the pilot's personality.

And you're right, most of it since then has been because of Atra. Atra's own feelings are somewhat fucked up as well. Girl has self-esteem issues, sees herself as unworthy of someone as "great" as Mikazuki and is pushing the harem route so she wouldn't have to compete with Kudelia. As long as she has Mikazuki, Atra is happy even if he's banging other women.

It's not healthy behavior, it's more like Mikazuki is her Orga for saving her from the street. I don't even think she realizes how fucked up Mikazuki really is, instead he's just ignoring the more negative aspects of his current self while consoling herself to the dream of him getting better when he leaves the merc life. They clearly were baiting it, but there was no real chemistry and no real romantic involvement. She picked him out of a group of four because he was the quiet unimpressed looking guy and she was going out of her way, as an activist, to try to win all the hearts and minds she could. When he pretty flatly rejected her carpet bagging ("But I guess we -aren't- equals.") she became fixated on changing that. Then, pretty quickly, she found herself cut off, her own dad seemed to want to kill her, she still needed to get to earth, and Mika is the guy saving their lives every few days. It was pretty forced interaction between the male and female leads, but it is what it is.

The only time it even hinted at a romantic turn, Mika basically heard something Naze said and tried it out. He kissed her because he heard that's what you do. Then he kind of shrugged and was over it. Kudelia angsted over having been kissed and did this mean she had to marry him because she was a sheltered and incredibly naive girl. And yeah, there were like a couple episodes there where he said "Kudelia sugoi" after she pulled some deus ex machina strings to save their asses, but people made more of a meme out of it than it ever was in show. And now in S2 they rarely ever even interact other than she manages his finances because he's incompetent at anything that hasn't been piped in his by an AV cord.

Everything else, the harem, the wanting to have a baby, is all Atra losing her shit because she thought Kudelia might move on the boy she's had a crush on for years and years.

She put that asshole Makanai back into power then benefited from him giving her the deal she wanted and employ Tekkadan, which IRL could constitute acts of corruption (guess why he had to resign from office). Not to mention how said deal makes profits for the guy who tried to have her killed.

Kudelia's whole thing is making a better Mars. She recognizes the existence of Tekkadan is fucked up, and wants to create a world where children wouldn't be forced to sell themselves like that.

I have no idea what kind of statement did she want to make by hiring them in the first place. Show to the world that child soldiers are a problem? Well, look how that turned out.

All in all, even though things are not perfect, I think this new situation is still better than the iron grip of Gjallarhorn over the Mars and Earth sphere. This is how things usually go, in the beginning there's always chaos but with time things settle down. I wish the show would give a little bit more attention to what exactly is going on with the martian terrorism, who is responsible for the attacks and for what cause but I guess there's little chance for some more in-depth social commentary. It's too bad because we can't really have a discussion on Tekkadan in this context when there's little to no basis for such conversation. Beyond the few exposition scenes courtesy of Kudelia.

She's supposed to be the rich kid who talks a big game about her causes, but is ultimately very ignorant of the reality of the situation. It's why she hired Tekkadan in the first place. She is the type of person Adam Conover would go after in an episode of his show, well-meaning but ill-informed.

It was Arbrau's policies that were creating the poverty on Mars, policies Makanai himself oversaw before he was resigned from power and set up this whole scheme. Mars is referred to the boonies, a place where people employ PMCs, slavery is a thing, and there are pirates. Go past Mars and things are run by the mob. The show treats Gjallarhorn (who to be fair, are not innocent to say the least. After all, in the name of maintaining peace they are perfectly willing to start a few fires and restrict weapons and tech that could give them a hard time) as a scapegoat, an easy target to throw the heroes at rather than directly tackling these issues.

Very true, but this is exactly why a lot of Martian Protesters were demanding Martian Independence in the first place; Gjallarhorn is spread too thin and is mostly focus on Earth and its prosperity while, as a vassal planet, Mars is going to get the shorter end of any stick between the two spheres.
Hell, in my own backstory for a Gundam universe, this was exactly why the previous big war was fought and Mars Sphere ended up winning its independence because Earth was just too far away to enforce its rule.

Honestly, this set-up had uncanny similarities with IBO, such as a focus on Mobile Suits using Melee Weapons...
...Too bad their otherwise completely incompatible.

Well that's something that I think bugs a lot of people about this show; It's a fictional universe ripe with story potential, but we're primarily focused on Characters that are pretty dissenting to say the least.
Hell, I've already got my own, now just waiting to see if we ever find out the MAs backstory.
