Plot armor.
>>
>>15143508
Is that anti-HEAT or anti HESH, because I think there are lighter ways of doing that.
>>
>>15144367
Its actually what chobham armour is my dude, primarily for anti-HEAT.

I am pretty sure there's actually two different instances of tying people to giant robots in Go Nagai's manga.

this

with a little of this
plus ECM and APS
and full coverage against all varieties of small arms fire.
I would class "energy shield" in any of its varieties as an APS. If it is possible, it will be computer controlled and only activate to destroy incoming weapons fire. Leaving it on is simply wasting energy that could be melting other vehicles or people.

If HESH doesn't squish right onto the armor, HESH is only a fancy HE round.

It's primarily anti HEAT by deflecting the jet, but I'm sure HESH doesn't shock squat shattering a couple quarter inch plates.
>>
>>15145093
This, HESH is basically obsolete against composite armour.
>>
Unobtainium.
>>
A whipple shield of alpha 2 titanium aluminide, followed by a generous stuffing of aerogel or microlattice, then an inner layer of boron or ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, then finally a spall liner of kevlar or spider silk.

Why does anybody bother with fantasy materials when real materials sound as cool as this?
>>
>>15145169
HESH is ment to be used against buildings not tanks because of the way it makes shrapnel outta the walls.
>>
>>15145174
Wasn't that thing a superconductor? Would it be worth anything as armor?
>>
>>15143508
Bag of really advanced super glue which is so strong that it prevents the projectile from breaking apart as it impacts.

No. HESH was originally an AT round that was developed to destroy tanks with insanely thick armour. The idea was that the explosive spread and caused spalling on the inside of the tank which would equate to setting off a frag grenade inside the hull.

The reason this was a thing was Russia was forcing out so many tanks with increasingly heavy armour that Britain went 'Hey what if we can abuse the fact these rounds don't give a fuck about your thickness?' and decided to issue them over HEAT for the most part. This worked fine in tests until the mid 60s when the USSR realised what HESH would do to their tanks after even the heaviest armour was useless against HESH and started issuing ALL tanks with spall lining.

HESH was then just relegated to anti-structure because it lost effectiveness against anything that's not an IFV or lower.

It's still a decent round to have around since it's still reasonably effective against poorly built defenses but it was entirely an AT round when developed.

This is a British document from a time when you backward fucks were using the Imperial system (only a few decades ago!)
Brits are as bad if not worse than Americans and have no room to mock anyone, you retards have taken the confusion one step further by using both metric and imperial in your daily lives.

Super power
>>
>>15147075
Not to mention the Russians using over-hardened armour that was particularly prone to spalling.
>>
>>15143508
Guns.
>>
A high-density, thermally resistant alloy overlayed by a conductive mesh charged with hideously high voltage. Incoming projectiles complete a circuit and are instantaneously vaporized, allowing the molten slag to harmlessly splash off the armor; residual slag is automatically melted off by continuous discharge, keeping the system self-cleaning.

For larger physical projectiles and extremely powerful explosives, an active defense system which intercepts incoming munitions with a combination of lasers and kinetic impactors.

Naturally, it all comes with a large umbrella.
