Mika Kikuchi must really wish she had a half decent career after Dekaranger instead of having to keep coming back for it

After watching their appearance in Chou Eiyuu Sai, I gotta say I'm pretty hyped for Kyuranger. It feels really new and unique and yet somehow strangely nostalgic too. The characters and style almost make it feel more like a 90's anime than a modern live toku show.

For all this talk about how Bandai of America helped make it, this show feels extremely Japanese. The characters feel like something straight out of a shonen manga, their designs are wild and vibrant and silly, even their ornate decorative ship feels like something out of Captain Harlock. Plus they're packing the show with Japanese star power, nearly every voice actor is a major famous Japanese talent. It's like it's screaming LOOK HOW JAPANESE-Y IT IS.

This isn't a bad thing, I feel, and I don't mean it in a condescending way. It feels like Toei is back in a groove that they've lost in recent years. Something got their blood pumping and they're pulling a strong gamble next season. It's like they're trying to leave behind every Sentai trope they themselves have established while at the same time trying to remind everyone why they love Sentai in the first place.

I'm excited, it looks baller as hell.

I'm looking forward to it. I just hope the show doesn't pull a Ninninger on me. I was excited as all hell for that show, because Kaku and Hurri were two shows I loved which were also ninja themed, but we all know how Ninnin turned out.

I do like that for the past three post-anniversary shows having three rangers from the start, they decided to times that by three and start with nine. I just hope the writer can actually make something good with it.

Still, Wrestling robot is enough for me to watch it alone.

Yeah, I can see it. the hinge makes it line up perfectly and there's a little thumb guard on the handle that makes it more gun shaped and acts as a stopper for the rest of it. The jaw on the dragon head is hinged too so I assume that opens, and it looks like it nestles perfectly into the stopper. I don't see a swivel point so I don't know if it becomes a rapier, but just given the length and shape of it, I wouldn't doubt it. the dragon head could easily double as the sword base. We'll have to wait to get a better look at it.

-ranger was used for the longest time until they used -ger constantly from Go-Onger onwards with only Go-Busters and now Kyuranger being not -ger.

Eh, it's actually not that bad. I've been forcing myself to watch the shit sentai on my own and saving the good ones for my friend.

Currently went through Sun Vulcan, Gaoranger, and Goseiger and loved them despite the flak they get. Probably the worst was Zyuranger, and my friend unfortunately rode along for that one.
