I have been a big fan of old school Shirow for some time now. I have just recently found myself enjoying some of his newer stuff as well. Even the weird greasy porn is actually pretty well drawn, and has some interesting features to it. The few episodes of Real Drive I've seen were really good. And I just finished the first episode of the Pandora anime and it was fun. I think it's a bit unfair to reduce his whole post 95 career to Wild Wet West.

You see, a SoL comedy ecchi anime about a robot girl and a cyborg girl doing cute and lewd things is a great CONCEPT, but those skeletal character designs are total creepy.

And Shirow's designs weren't much better.

The only nice thing I've seen related to Pandora is that promotional pic done by Sonoda. It looks decent.

Pandora is basically a libertarian island paradise according to most of the world's idea of libertarianism.

The American libertarians of course would disagree as the island appears to have a relatively strong government willing to spend cash on its citizen's wellfare and a lack of visible child prostitution.

I recently listened to the Pandoradio drama CD. There's this really funny part where they get a mail, asking how much of Nene is cyborg. She says that it's everything but her brain but she's not sure herself if it's really there. Then she opens her head and asks Clarion in a creepy robotic voice if she sees a brain. Clarion panics and starts yelling Nene to close her face. She was appearantly too scared to even look at her because she answers about the brain with ''It was...probably there''.

Real Drive character design is something to behold
however I found the story a little lacking.

Shirow lost his edge, I don't even want to see what he let Hollywood do into a GitS movie

I actually loved Meal Drive.
The character designs were fantastic, the slower pace was a nice change I thought that even the more SoL elements felt like they helped build the world. The plot was more standard fare but still enjoyable.
I guess it didn't do well at all because thw choice of an 80yo wheelchair bound MC was too much for the nips.

With a 80years timelapse I expected more than a Deus ex machina to explain both the warp-like explosion, the near telepathic connection and make our MC young again

I think it has less to do with the old MC than his exaggeratedly childish sidekick. I nearly dropped the show from the start seeing that the 2nd main characters you'll follow throughout all the plot was an airhead with plot power.
I kept some hope since she went to activate the windmill
