There is a Japanese encode which is a pretty good size for the quality and grain. However, it has a slight soften filter, but it's not that big of a problem that requires me to do my own encode of the show.

Also, they didn't bother to crop the black bars, but again, that's not that big of a problem as it won't stop you from watching, only when taking screenshots which again, you can crop off yourself via Photoshop script.

I'll try to get the 1st episode uploaded sometime today, but here is also a photoshop action that will auto crop any screenshots you'll take in advance.

https://mega.nz/#!gwslVSCZ!L6UbhrVtfSNOWygglYHPWMam6vMtMJ0mk94sE87Q3Ck

Furthermore, each episode will be about 1.05 gb so that is very good.

>>15131834
Too bad there was no Ireland Gundam with a giant shamrock.
>>
Got the 1st episode up. Enjoy. And make sure to use that photoshop script to crop the black bars.

It's a good quality and size. That's what's important.

so no one is gonna pick this up for a proper encode with all the grain kept?

the grain process is an art that not a lot of encoders know how to to perform regardless of whether or not they like G Gundam

The American Gundam wasn't just a cowboy, an Irish has no reason to be just a leprechaun. I do love the idea of an 8 or 10 meter "midget" Gundam squaring off against normal size ones though.

Why wasn't there a proper G Gundam game? Think Tekken, Raging Blast or something. That would be awesome and we'd get to see other Gundams which weren't in the show maybe.

I'm just joking obviously. We're all just having some fun. But just make sure it has an ak-47, molotovs and a balaclava, too.

I've had that Mega up since October. After thinking about it, and seeing how desperate /m/ is becoming, I think I'll at least revert back to my original October statement, this will happen, but at a slow, casual pace. And I do mean slow - I wasn't going to mention this until I had disc 2 fully uploaded, but I haven't gotten around to it. Just yesterday, I synced up 10 and 11, but didn't touch the subs, so it'll be finished when it's finished.

Basically, I really want this done for my own sake, because I truly, truly love G.

Are you sure about this man? I'm all for a good G release, but you sounded so relieved when you stopped doing encodes.
>>
>>15147164
I am, and I was relieved. I wouldn't do this if I didn't want to, and it may seem counterintuitive, but being incredibly busy lately means I feel accomplished enough in life to dick around with this release. Lately, I've also made a small comeback in enjoying gunpla and trying to watch IBO (though that's not going too well...). Life is DEFINITELY better now that I'm done, but I want to research G, and quite frankly, no one has stepped up to the degree I wanted, no disrespect to the anon here.
>>

Doom9.

I'm not really that good an encoder, I'm just autistic enough to put in the time for a solid encode. A dream of mine was to get into film restoration, but it's not quite the road I ended up taking, so encoding has long been a sort of outlet to get releases that are well presented.

>>15163865
No need to scale up the God Gundam. It's about as tall as a late UC mobile suit.

I wouldn't trust games to be indicative of anything, but I think in one of the Gundam Musou games, Domon tried to use God Finger on Judau, but Judau counters by powering up the hi-mega cannon.

In any case, the God Gundam is quite powerful, even without taking special things like martial arts techniques and the power of emotions into account. I'd consider a Death Army suit to be on par with a Zaku at least (they're piloted by DG cell zombies so they're quite slow to react and retarded when it comes to fighting effectiveness), and mobile fighters can destroy dozens of them easily. Even if normal pilots aren't as retarded as the zombie pilots, the performance gap is kind of crazy. The Shining Gundam was able to withstand beam rifle shots to the arms and legs that would have destroyed UC arms and legs, so mobile fighters are actually pretty resistant to beams, although beam sabres will still go through their armor.

>>
>>15172285
>And could they have tried to reprogram it after it's malfunction caused it to turn malicious?
Possibly, but the people who where in a position to do so didn't want to.

Master Asia was content to let it destroy humankind, Hong Kong/Neo Japan wanted to use it as a weapon. Turning it back into a machine for gardening didn't suit their purposes.

Been waiting years to see G in this level of quality.

What setting would give results that don't look like this?

How are the Shining Gundam kits? Should I get the MG or HG? MG is tempting at 20 bucks but how outdated is it? Plus the HG has that cool shining finger sword effect...
>>
>>15173306
what settings did you use?
>>
>>15173149
I like to do batches of episodes instead of just one, but it is ultimately when I have the time. What I mean is that I won't make time for the release, or go out of my way. I've spent way too many nights doing that already. Victory's pace was more to do with getting BDMVs if you recall.
>>
Why are there multiple G Gundam threads? Couldn't everyone have just contained discussion to this one?

>>15173306
Jesus fuck, man. What happened? In any case, it all depends on what your machine can take or just using the right settings.

Here's the settings I used for Casshan. Try that with handbrake and see how long it'll take, and also test it on a scene of a minute or two for a quick quality test. But make sure to change the crop option if necessary, and if you want to 2-pass it or not. Let me know how it goes.

It could, Devil was destroyed twice and just need a new battery to make he DG cells active. a replacement power source and control scheme should be able to 'revive' DG cells, see DG jr.

Also there's the Godmaster Gundam who had DG cells incorporated into it despite Devil not being in the picture.

>>15173317
Whatever it's default is, I literally just changed the frame size.

I think I did something wrong. I tried to import that file as a preset to use and I got an "Unknown error" message.

The Error Details are here, http://pastebin.com/jYqp13aq

What was his endgame?

>>15148369
That's not an argument. If people are there to help other people, they shouldn't be a total dick about it.

>>15173519
Hmm. No clue what went wrong there. What version of handbrake are you using?

Pic related.

from what quick half assed googling I did I've also done an uninstall, registry clean, and reinstall. I originally had it installed through ninite's installer so I just grabbed the installer from them directly. Before my versiion of handbrake was maybe a month old if that. I'm on a computer I got in Dec. Will try again now.

Well it looks like it took this time. This setting is also going much slower. I had to manually set the video frame to 720 but thats no biggie.

Avg FPS is around 12 where as that first pass was more like 35. time remaining is 44+ minutes rather than 25. Here is hoping to much better results

Here's the settings in a picture just encase. Anyhow, it IS much slower, but it only takes about 4 hours without 2-pass for an episode around 24 minutes long for me which is pretty good, I think. I'd rather fart out more episodes than 2-passing everything and waiting twice as long since the quality is good enough.

>>15173579
Ah, right. My version is a little bit older and 32-bit. That was probably why.

What do you have spec wise for your encoding? 4 hours is way longer then what It looks like I'm getting. Its been 20 minutes roughly and I'm already around 43% done.

Pic is what I'm running on for comparison
>>
>>15173626
It kept more of the grain but its still blurring a good bit. it also cropped The image ever so slightly.

Use preset veryslow or slower. My exact settings are somewhere in between those two two presets, the key difference being trellis 2 and ME10.

Using veryslow and tune film will get you 99% there. I'm on a 5820k and take just under two hours to encode each episode.

Not very good in comparison to nowadays computer, but it's good enough for me, Then again, I don't use my pc for other than the usual things, photoshop, and playing old pc video games so I don't mind.

>>15174054
I'd rather fiddle around myself to get the best balance between encode quality and time for myself.
>>
>>15174119
Be my guest, but you can't expect grain preservation with preset medium, I assure you.

where are these settings?

I haven't seen this, should I go with a-S subs or EG?

[EG] in all situations where they exist.

Ahh, I only use handbrake at work, ironically, so I don't think the advanced tabs are open. Last I looked at the GUI, those settings were on the first tab, but in yours, they appear to be on the third tab.
>>
>>15177970
What do you use when doing your encodes?
>>
>>15178040
Either straight x264 CLI, x264 via ffmpeg CLI, or in this case, MeGUI. Most of my use cases for work are either ffmpeg or handbrake (I tried to get my coworkers off Adobe media encoder by installing handbrak on their desktops).

Forgot to reply to this, but were you just jerking my chain or did you actually want something?

They were there in past versions, but now you have to enable the advanced screen in the options for some reason.

I sent you a message on twitter asking if I imported the BD in a two months if you'd be down to encode it, I'd probably just have it ship to your house then I'd just want it sent to my address after you rip everything.

Will we ever get a gundam series as hot-blooded and off the wall as G Gundam again? I want another protag who breaks stuff with their gundam's fists without whining about "muh angst" or "muh war"
>>
Okay, that's the 1st BD Box uploaded there which is the first 24 episodes. However, I don't think the 2nd box has been ripped yet so you'll probably have to wait for the rest later this year, I guess. Anyway, enjoy.

Hmm. I honestly don't know about that. Do you live in Europe or America? No clue about the shipping cost, but are you comfortable about sending something like that to somebody you don't even know?
>>
>>15180897
Second box is on ADC, I'll be grabbing it in a few days.
>>
>>15180927
Was it added recently or has it been there a while now? Because I sure as hell don't want something that big to devour my upload ratio.

Thanks for letting me know regardless. I'll have a look around to see if it's elsewhere.
>>
You fool!

18-21 uploading now.
