We've still got a lot of episodes left to go for Ex-Aid, I wonder if they'll introduce any other game developers into the show.

Honestly, I know the whole video games theme is little more than a framing device, and Toei couldn't give a damn about exploring it too deeply, it'd be cool to actually see some nods to the gaming industry crop up in Ex-Aid, especially since famous Japanese devs are practically rock stars in Japan even more so than they are in the west.

Like, why not have a parody/homage of Kojima, as the dev who was betrayed by his former bosses at GENM corp and set out on his own to create the perfect artistic gashat game? Or you could have an expy of Kamiya be the short tempered grumpy game dev who refuses to talk to (i.e. "blocks") anyone he doesn't like and makes really complicated and difficult gashat games that only the best Riders can use.

Rinko has a nice ass and is otherwise literally less useful than Shunpei. Let me repeat that, Shunpei. Fucking Shunpei. Because at least Shunpei points it out when Haruto first starts acting like a total asshole. Rinko doesn't even do that. There's a police unit about Phantom-related cases and she's not on it until the fucking epilogue. Not that it matters because that unit only exists to hand out the Hurricane Dragon stone and then be mentioned one more time in the whole rest of the fucking show.

Ghost is somewhere in bottom quarter to half of Heisei as a whole, definitely second-worst of post-Decade, but it's nowhere near the level of sheer awful that Wizard is.

Literally the only character of worth in Ghost was Alain.

The issue is, neither the writers nor the directors nor the producers seemed to realize this throughout Ghost's filming other than Koichi Sakamoto who tries to make sure every Rider gets some good scenes in every episode he directs. As a result, he gets four whole good scenes in the entire show, and instead of giving Alain more focus or at least a proper upgrade, he re-obtains a form he already had used over thirty episodes ago. He also jobs fucking horrifically most of the show after he turns good.

And instead of giving Alain any significant focus, we watch angry leather beanpole and the human equivalent of Styrofoam throughout the show, and of those two, the angry leather beanpole gets the character development of "I am an angry leather beanpole who is now friends with Captain No-Personality instead of wanting to beat him up!"

Wizard was a disgrace, but at the very fucking least Nitoh had more memorable scenes than Alain and Makoto combined and, unlike Takeru, Haruto manages to have temporary lapses in blandness and ends up being an entertaining character for very short bursts. I cannot remember a single vaguely entertaining thing Takeru the CHARACTER did other than dress like Red Riding Hood and convince the 15 Ghosts of Tomokazu Seki that they weren't worthless - Though they still were, as proven the episode later where they all get stomped by Adel because they need a strong villain somehow.

I think how you rank Ghost really depends on what you consider more important to determining what makes a bad Rider show.

The primary sin that Wizard commits is just how much time it wastes on formulaic two-parters that mean nothing and don't tell us anything about anyone or advance the story in any meaningful way. The coherence of the story tends to be what I consider one of the big deciding factors in what makes a bad Rider show: that's why I rate Kabuto so low, because Kabuto's story is catastrophically poorly written and full of things that don't go anywhere and have no point. I rate Ghost above that kind of show because despite its milquetoast lead and poorly-directed villain, it actually does something to tell a running narrative most weeks, one that makes sense for the most part and is building towards a climax. The worst Rider shows are the ones like Kabuto, Den-O and Decade that don't even manage to do that, or like Hibiki or Kiva where that narrative totally shits the bed.

Now on the other hand if you're willing to put up with a terrible story as long as the characters are fun, you'll probably have a different ranking order.

Rating Kamen Rider purely on plot or purely on characters is asinine. It's a case-by-case basis where you need to be able to view the quality of the plot and the characters involved at the same time.
