Starship thread, post starships.
space ship that transforms into a 100m tall robot that delivers roundhouse kicks. i don't think captains could raise their shields fast enough.
>>15110170
What is this just some sort of modified YT-1300 or something else?
>>15109821
>>15110057
Damn Excelsior is my Star Trek shipfu, none can compare.
Why are most sci-fi designers so shit?
Most of these designs are dull, overdesigned, generic nonsensical designs with space plane bullshit on them, none of you would remember anything about these ugly ships if you weren't fans of the shows and games they come from.
Why can't we get more minimalistic, logical, memorable designs like pic related?
>>15111076
> let's stick a pole in an asteroid. That's a ship right?
>Sure. Sounds like a good idea.
>>15111384
It's a dick.
>>15111076
Spaceships are about looking cool, not about realism.
No one would buy a toy of that shit you posted.
>>15111791
I would
>>15110264
Modernization; doing it right.
>>15109810
>>15111791
Just let the "Muh Realism" fag go, he ALWAYS goes on some bullshit and always derails threads about beautiful spaceship designs.
>>15109810
Pick one, and only one.
>>15112919
A beautiful model.
is there a difference between a starship and a spaceship?
powered by love through time and space...whatever
>>15113065
A starship is a vessel designed for interseller travel between stars. Most commonly this is with FTL travel but sleeper, generational and relativistic interseller travel count too. A spaceship is simply any vessel that travels in space.
I choose starship in the OP just cause I think it sounds cooler.
>>15113103
God that movie was so fucking stupid.
But the presentation. The presentation was fucking gorgeous.
Saw it on IMAX. No regrets, even if the story was so dumb.
>>15113146
>>15113109
neat
how do people move around in those huge city sized ships? surely they aren't walking everywhere.
>>15113249
A lot of them have some form of elevator technology.
>>15113249
I imagine that people sleep and live near the stations they work at so they don't need to travel a lot.
>>15113121
I like it, it's not for everyone I guess.
>>15113490
It's not my cup of tea as far as it is as a movie, but I can't call it "bad." Just cheesy as all hell.
Still, it's the kind of movie that really deserves to be experienced if for nothing but the cinematography and score.
>>15113154
Just make this cannon, I don't care if it's absurd for fun fan art, this would make a funny comedy movie just on it's own.
I mean disney is gonna get absurd with all these yearly anthology movies, let's have fun with one at least.

Satisfied now?
>>15114317
What does it say about us as a species if we travel in giant dildos?
>>15114407
almost forgot this

>logical
>space ships
Go back to /k/, you autist.
>>15114438
That other guy is a raging autist, but if you don't think hard sci-fi is hot shit you can suck my nuts.
>>15112804
The Rynex-R is my waifu. I'd be gunning down enemies with this theme playing.

UNSC/Bungie ships are my lifeblood. Sparth's ships from halo 4 and 5 can come too, but I don't know about that weird Prowler in 4.

And the Saturn V rocket didn't already give you that impression?

HUMANITY! WE WILL FUCK ANYTHING! EVEN SPACE ITSELF!

Still scares me

bruder

>Just make this cannon, I don't care if it's absurd for fun fan art, this would make a funny comedy movie just on it's own.
Spaceballs already made the joke
>>15114333
That we have some kind of engineering ability?
>>15114545
The space shuttle, the thing we've used for decades, is literally just a plane in space made with different metals.
>>15116191
Did you respond to the wrong person?
>>15114152
This is beautiful.
Imagine sub cultures and factions being built in a ship that fucking huge.
>>15116191
The space shuttle is glider, not remotely a plane.
>>15113508
Wouldn't a sphere be inefficient in that fact that you have little surface area for weapons to account for mass.
>>15110173
According to FractalSponge, the designer, it's an imperial sloop, basically a more heavily-armed VIP transport when a shuttle isn't enough. He came up with the design as a sort of "evil falcon".
>>15113249
The Clone Wars suggest that there's some sort of internal monorail, like a horizontal elevator of sorts.
>>15116090
space butt plug
>>15119237
That's assuming it's a warship. Which that most certainly isn't. It's an exploration vessel.
Also, once you get to a certain size, spheres offer much better defense than to be concerned about weapon placement-to-mass ratios.
There's still plenty of surface for any weapons, and volume inside to store weapons if it needed them.
>>15111076
>logical
>APPLE PEN
>thrust axis does not pass through center of mass
gg no re
>Freefall
>go to the appropriate corridor
>push off in the direction you want to go
>try not to bump into anybody
>float until you get there or drag slows you enough that you need to push off again.
Real easy until somebody turns on the engines.
