Military fantasy is dead because there hasn't been any recent military conflicts that involve first world countries. A lot of 20th century superheroes, Sentai and Rider no exceptions, essentially fought super nazis. Decline in development and waning of memory of war leads to decline in the heroic genres. It's kind of poetic in a way, really.

Yamato's thing with his dad struck me as pretty bold for a Toei show.

Finished Go-Busters. Final arc is damn interesting. There is a episode where what Yuoko and Ryuuji will react to each other post-Messiah arc. Its pretty astounding what Enter us capable of and what a well written villain he is despite spoiling his plans for the characters. J is singlehandedly has the best arc and he is not even a main character. Hiromu is pretty ok for a Red. His Red is basically the resolve of the characters. The boxing episode is G.O.A.T. filler. Accidentally made Enter look like a good guy.

I live in the city where most of the early seasons of PR were filmed, before being shipped to New Zealand, and TimeForceRanger was the season where it was most obvious. Nearly every scene in that season was filmed somewhere I could not only name off the top of my head but probably also drive to in no time at all. It was honestly kind of cool.

The one thing that put me off Zyuoh is the simplicity of the designs. I mean, really? Just an animal themed helmet we've seen a half a dozen times in the last decade and a half, and a monocolor suit with just an animal print on it? Is that it?

Like the entire point of every robot being a cube and having such a simplistic combination would be to have a bunch of different combos. But it was only 123, 654, 154, and 623. Never even something like 153, and frustratingly never even using Misao's mechs to make 678 or 178... barely using any of that until we finally got to the first big combination. I feel like that's really underselling the mecha and what it can do.

Well it's like the situation with Gaoranger. There was tons and tons of Gao Animals but more then half of them didn't make it in. They planned all the combinations beforehand and chose the ones they used because they thought they would sell the most.

So I watched Zyuranegr and Dairanger a couple of years ago and really liked them both. I thought Dairanger was great, in particular. Anybody have any other sentai recs, or should I just play Russian Roulette and pick one at random?
