Destiny was not as bad as people say. People only trash it because it had a lot of potential to be good. The problems are narrative inconsistencies, characters acting stupid for no reason, a really weak main character and my personal biggest peeve, the most skewed battles ever. I gave it a 2/10.

I really didn't enjoy Morosawa's writing in Destiny, mainly how she wrote Shinn, but a lot of other issues too. She also hated Cagalli's VA, so she purposely wrote Cagalli's character as a shit in Destiny.

The music choices almost ruined it for me, Vestige in no way shape or form should be an OP, the tone, and type of music is built specifically for an insert for a high impact action scene, And not only that, but they remove Vestige from Strike Freedom's coming out party and put in Kira, Sono kokoro no mama ni? Strike Freedom's debut doesn't have much of an impact with this song, especially compared to the original version with Vestige, that song belongs where it originally was, in Kira's battle with Shinn and Rey right before, and during Athrun's injured sortie.Couple this with them fucking up Annani no issho data no ni, skipping River entirely and only playing Find The Way twice in Seed, I'm pretty pissed at the music choices in both remasters

Fun fact: in Zeta Gundam, Zeta Gundam In this show, Jesus literally has a Gundam buried under his house.

Destiny was a completely massive missed opportunity, and an even more hilarious flop. While SEED overall wasn't a fantastic show, it at least sticked to its guns and had a decent story, despite some pretty weak characters littering the scene. Honestly, the first 10 or so episodes of Destiny were fantastic. Destiny took a unique approach in it's beginning stages by showing how this war was really going to get started. In the beginning of many Gundam series, you see or hear about some horrible tragic event that happens offscreen, in which some way becomes a catalyst to an impending war. Well, Destiny actually goes through the trouble of showing that event and its awesome. That, and these beginning fights (primarily before you see the Freedom appear on Earth) were really engaging. It's after Shinn heads to earth and that Kira and Lacus come back onto the scene is when the show takes a really rapid plummet. Shinn's writing gets worse and worse, Heine ended up being a waste of airtime when he really could have been more, and for some reason, the writers make it so that no matter what Kira and Lacus do, they are always, ALWAYS in the right. They become these pseudo-infallible characters, where they preach one thing, violate it completely, and then get praised for whatever nonsense they preached. Really, the only thing worse than SEED Destiny in my eyes is the 00 Movie. tl;dr The episode in the mid-30s where Shinn finally destroys the Freedom Gundam is the only good episode in the show after ep 10.

The key difference is they added in Athrun and his friends which gives you a glimpse into the other side from a more sympathetic point of view than Char was.

Unicorn, being a sequel still manages to retread most of it's main characters, all being blatant rip offs of Ryu, Lalah, Jerid kinda, and Ple. The Ple clone is somewhat excusable if she didn't suffer the exact same fate as before

I have a lot of nostalgia for SEED, since it was my first Gundam. I like the show a lot. I can't say the same for Destiny. Arthur's punch on Shinn is the best thing to come out of Destiny. Second best is the based soundtrack.

I never really got an impression of her in SRW J, but to be fair I did tend to stay with the Nadesico when I could and didn't use many SEED units (exception being Dearka for his range). When I actually sat down and watched it, I saw her as being manipulative underneath her sunshine 'n rainbow exterior (her initial time on the Archangel, her version of how Kira survived doesn't fit the flashback or Astray, her mentor stealing the Dreadnaught Gundam in X Astray). And that's really the way I still see her, she acts nice but is just making everyone dance to her tune.

Seed is not good nor bad, Seed is mediocre. Destiny is bad, because the second half ruined the show.

The problems of Gundam Seed are that the first half is boring, the main crew of the Arhcangel with the exception of Mu La Flaga and Natarle Badgiruel are really boring and inefficient. Athrun Zala the deuteragonist of the show is a bland character, Rau, one of the worst Char clones of all time and the members of the Le Creuset team are all retards. Gundam Seed has good things like Kira that is easily the best protagonist of the gundam franchise and Lacus, one of the best gundam heroines of all time. The second half of Seed improve a lot and the last episodes are good, not perfect, but they are good.

The first half of Destiny is bad, but the second half is really good. Kira who was a minor character in the show, became the protagonist, the protagonist in the first half of Destiny became the antagonist, Shinn and his girlfriend are always right, never wrong. Apart of that Destiny has like 6-8 recap episodes, the animation is bad, etc.

Both Seed and Destiny has good soundtracks and beautiful mechs, but both Shinn and Rau ruined both shows.

I liked Kira as a character as well. I think a lot has to do with a lot of Gundam fans love the UC timeline more than the Alternate timelines, and with SEED essentially being a re-imagining of MSG, it comes across as some sort of offense to its image.

Probably because the Clyne faction as a stand alone faction was short lived, considering it merged into the TSA and then into Terminal organization. This. What annoys me about Kiras no kill attempts is that it just seems naive. In the real world you can't go for non fatal shots so reliably, no matter how good you are. I would have liked to have seen Kira accidentally kill a few grunts whilst using the Freedom and have him say "well sometimes that just happens"

My theory is that Destiny is from Athrun's perspective (Fukuda has said that Athrun is the star and the compilation movies reflect it more) and characters/events based on how he viewed them. Shinn's brattiness is emphasized because that's how Athrun saw him (this explains why his behavior is toned down in SRW, DWG and other crossover games. Those are a neutral view of Shinn, the "true" Shinn according to his VA), or how Cagalli lost her will because that's how Athrun viewed her when she let ORB join the EA. Granted, sometimes this requires getting information from second-hand sources. The events surrounding Durandal's death are what Kira told him had happened afterwards. "Yeah, Rey was so moved by my words he decided to fight for us. He killed Durandal and then decided to die with him. Talia too. She decided to die with him as well. You have to trust me, honest. But Kira already beat Rau, and Rey is just a weaker version of him in a similar suit. He ditched the Meteor right away and started shooting down his dragoons immediately because he already knew exactly how to beat him. Kira had already fought this exactly battle before, and this time he had dragoons of his own and Kira had far more experience than his opponent, rather than the other way around.

Rey was never on Kira's level. That's why he tried to get Shinn to take him out first.

Meanwhile we already saw in Orb that a motivated Athrun while suffering from serious injuries could take Shinn, so a healthy Athrun would do even better.

For all his hatred of Kira, he didn't actually seem to know anything about what Kira was actually like, and just ran off what the Ultimate Coordinator project said and the fact that Rau hated him and he killed Rau.

For example he seems to believe Kira revels in being the Ultimate Coordinator and being better than everyone, and his non lethality is simply a display of arrogance, when it fact Kira hated being a coordinator and disables simply because he doesn't like it when people die.

In fact his breakdown in the finale seems to begin simply with the fact that Kira responded to his rant with sympathy and telling him he viewed him as more than just a clone of Rau which was probably the last thing he expected to hear from someone he was convinced was an inherently bad person.

I didn't like the ending to Destiny, but I was happy these two kids got together. Hell, I was just glad they got a happy ending at all, more or less.

I was really happy that Luna didn't die when she had ALL of the deathflags fucking waving in the breeze. That was a nice surprise.
