>It's 2017 and you still didn't watch Panzer World Galient.
Fact 01 : Okawara Kunio only designed Galient main robot. Other mechas were all done by Izubuchi Yutaka.
Fact 02 : Takahashi Ryousuke pitched an heroic-fantasy show to Sunrise during production of Dougram in 1982 but the company declined the idea. As a substitute he created Galient in 1984 with chara-designer Shiyama Norio.
Fact 03 : the show was supposed to last 50 episodes but model-kits sales were so weak the series was cancelled after its first half.
Robot Damashii when?
Fact 04 : the second part would have taken place in space with ships and a more Dune-like feel. The revelation of Himulka being the biological daughter of Marder was planned to happen in these episodes.
Fact 05 : Izubuchi worked on Dunbine's design one year before Galient, so Takahashi asked him to create another kind of fantasy world, different from the previous medieval one. Thus, Dunbine aesthetic was more akin to european fantasy while Galient approached fantasy with an american luggage.
Fact 06 : Panzer World Galient was originally named Starboy Transfer Antiborg.
Fact 07 : an OVA called Crest Of Iron was produced in 1986. It's not a sequel but a new relecture with characters redefined in different roles, an idea similar to what the Escaflowne movie will do a decade later.

Fact 08: nobody watched this show
>>15078000
Did it at least have a good conclusion?
>>15078238
It's not a complete conclusion and it feels a little rushed but at least they explained what was the goal of the bad guy and the MC succeeds in what he wanted to do primarily. So there's a kind of ending nonetheless.
>>15078228
I did and clearly people at Banpresto did to put it into BX. I'm more disappointed the sheales were never in it
>>15078283
In BX or in the show?
Because they do appear every now and then like in episode 14.

>>Takahashi Ryousuke pitched an heroic-fantasy show to Sunrise during production of Dougram in 1982 but the company declined the idea
And they approved Tomino's Dunbine why?
>>15077979
There's not much reason to watch Galient. It's a passable show, but never really goes beyond that
Apart from Hilmocha and the alien people, it's one of the most cliche fantasy stories out there, and the aliens were underdeveloped. The show had potential, but not the time to realize it. It's the least discussed Takahashi show for a reason
>>15078350
Same reason they approved Galient. It had robots they could sell model kits of.
>>15078350
Apparently, his pitch was something of an adaptation of his fantasy novel, so that got accepted and then they added mechs afterwards (because of mecha trends going in full-swing after Votoms).
Galient is decent entertainment but it's a simple, straight anime without a surprise. Still better than the perpetual mess of Dunbine.
"As for the story of Galient, my family was just my mother and I. This is because my father died fighting in Second World War, in New Guinea, and he left for the war a month before I was born. So I’ve never known my father. In that regard, all the stories I make tend to have a father like figure as an integral part of the narrative. Mostly to oppose the main character. In Dougram, the father figure was Crinn’s actual father but with VOTOMS this father like figure was in fact Wiseman. However, in the case of Galient this opposing figure was Marder. Where Marder had this idea about how the human race should be and he wanted Jordy to act in that way but Jordy obviously opposes that. So it’s always this opposition between father and son."
Takahashi Ryosuke
>>15077979
I did, too bad its not that great, and has an awful ending.
I keep meaning to. It's been sitting on my drive for years, taunting me.
>>15078611
Dunbine may have been a bit of a mess, but I enjoyed it. Neat, unconventional mech designs, a solid soundtrack, and the fish out of water story (both ways) was decent enough. Also, all four super-capital ships are great designs.
>>15078635
The ending was fairly competent and well crafted, especially for something improvised at the last minute because of cancellation.
Chururu was cute.
>>15078611
I agree.
It's average but has some really strong moments.
>>15077984
Supposedly Okawara was brought in fairly late in pre-production when Izubuchi couldn't come up with anything "heroic" enough. Sponsor's apparently didn't think any of Izubuchi's designs for Galient would sell well as toys. The Crest of Iron OVA design is probably something closer to what Izubuchi came up with originally for Galient.
>>15078009
Never knew this. Cool.
>>15078623
Any source?
>>15078009
I haven't seen Galient but that pisses me off. That would be sick

Takahashi's been interviewed recently by Forbes.
Fact 08 : the Galient Sword was the first whip-sword in pop culture. It's now common weapon in SF shows and videogames.
Fact 09 : Panzer World Galient appeared for the first time in SRW in 2015 with Super Robot Wars BX on Nintendo 3DS.
Fact 10 : mecha animation was mostly done by studios Anime R and Nakamura Prod.
Fact 11 : panzers are divided into seven classes.
- Blades : panzers with swords.
- Hunters : melee panzers.
- Gusts : winged or aerial panzers.
- Tramplers : four-legged panzers.
- Scales : panzers designed for submarine battle.
- Ballistas : panzers with missiles.
- Janitors : guard panzers.
Fact 12 : the Panzer Blade Galient was the first time Takahashi put a transformable robot into a series he directed. He tried that again in FLAG in 2006.
>>15078357
Panzer World Galient desperately needs a Hollywood blockbuster live action trilogy.
Kinda like Krull (for all those old farts that remember it, whose only redeeming feature was the soundtrack) but done right.
>>15078350
Because it's motherfucking Tomino.
Marder did nothing wrong, didn't he ?
>>15078060
To this day I am still trying to figure out what happened there in the end. Looked pretty cool though.
>>15077979
I'll watch it eventually. Jeez. The rate at which anime comes out makes it hard to pick what to watch.

Cool. Who is the artist?
>>15082723
Says so under or above the mech names though.
Himulka is pretty hot.
>>15082864
Takahashi and Shioyama directed a fantasy OVA called Mozaika in 1991 without any mech.
>>15082280
Now is a good time.
This and last anime season were/are total complete turds with the exception of like 2-3 shows depending on your tastes.
>>15082723
Chiharu Satoh (Layzner), Koji Koizumi (Scope Dog) and Yutaka Izubuchi (Galiant).
>>15078357
The mech is red and has a sword amd looks cool. Theres three reasons, and I haven't even seen it yet
>>15080724
Man theres so much shit that subtly came from animes long forgotten or underappreciated. Like Cobras arm cannon, im pretty sure it predates megaman. Then theres Guts Sword too.
>>15088054
Is Cobra actually that forgotten? I thought it was pretty well regarded.
would've been cool to have a bit of a timeskip and have a badass teenage/adult Jordy
I watched it and liked it.
I thought it ended a little bit too abruptly. But I guess >>15078000 is why that is.
>>15088070
I know that Keroro loves bringing it up.
I like this kind of simple typical 80 show. There are bad guys (even if Marder had some political goal at the end), robots, a brave MC and that's all. Not retarded psychology, poor drama or extensive cast of 100 formulaic characters that you don't care about. Just the basics of a fucking cartoon with robots. Were the days.
>>15081286
He was a well-intentioned extremist.
>>15084176
I'd say that giant stone golems that are animated by the spirits of the dead should fall into the mech category. And giant magitech floating fortresses.
But it's pretty much Star Wars in a more overt fantasy setting, and the animation quality looks stuck in 1984.
>>15088949
Pretty much. Although to be fair, he considered himself to be evil anyways (yet still has more morals than the jerk that tried to betray him).
>>15077979
Looks cool. Downloading now.
MY WORLD WILL SOON REVIVE !
>>15088045
Yeah, well, I said the same thing about Rayearth, and it turned out not being all that great either. Especially given how the robots somehow made it worse.
Rayearth is still my favorite mecha design though
>>15078228
I watched it. It was good. You should too.
Marder was just trying to wake up his people. Seems like a topic for the present times.
Takahashi will never make another robot show faggots.
>>15078238
The second half of the show was supposed to have a more space opera feel to it and deal with a galactic revolution, but I think the ending we got works quite well despite the obvious abruptness. I wouldn't have felt cheated in the slightest if that's the ending they were always going for, or even if the full length series ended in exactly the same manner.
Sometimes the universe says, "No, you can't get what you want."
Major spoilers:Bad guy is kickstaring The Empire on this backwater planet because the rest of galactic civilization is full of people in spandex who watch colored lights all day and have no drive to invent or learn or do anything. They're all running on the technology their forefathers created and have no desire to get better. He believes WAR is the answer to rousing people from their slumber, so he's going to create an army using powerful machines left on this dirtball and kick the galaxy in the can.The show ends with him successfully teleporting his doom base + robots + the heroes who were nearby from dirtplanet to one of the technologically advanced ones and starts wrecking shit. The shadowy council that runs everything in the galaxy panics and deploys THE ERASER to solve it. They don't even know how this shit works, because even though they're not "asleep" like everyone else, they're still ignorant and not progressing at all.Eraser shows up and nukes the fuck out of bad guy and his empire. He goes, "Welp, gave it a good shot, sometimes there's just a bigger dog out there than you. Sorry for fucking up your dirtplanet, primitive people," and teleports them back before being obliterated.
>>15088054
Pile bunkers originated in VOTOMS with Ru Shako's Berserga.
>>15091362
The bad shit he did on Arzt was going to be nothing compared to all the murder he'd have to get up to for the revival of space-humanity. Compared to the other warlords of the planet, he wasn't much worse except that he was wildly successful.
>>15081212
giant robots are stupid
The spandex Concil was clearly UN, amiright ?
>>15088054
Metroid predates Megaman by about a year.
Best /m/ ending theme ever.
ALL THE TEARS THAT I SHED.
In regards to the Panzers, what would be the chronologically first Panzers?
We don't even know what ancient civilization made the panzers in the first place, right ? They just dig them out from canyon and caves.

I'd have to google search for another. Perhaps you could watch the series and screen cap your own?
