What are some good sidescroller/shmup mecha games? Something like Front Mission - Gun Hazard?
Metal Warriors is pretty cool game

There's not many. I think, tops there's like 25 of these games ever made. A lot of them are abscure titles on DOS or PC98.
Here's the ones I've found worth playing:
>Assault Suit Valken (snes/PS2)
>Metal Warriors (SNES)
>Front Mission: Gun Hazard (SNES)
>Gigantic Army(Windows/Linux)
>Assault Suit Leynos (PS4/Windows)
>Assault Suit Leynos 2 (Saturn)
>Armored Hunter Gunhound EX
Gunhound and Gigantic Army are like 2-3 dollars each on steam right now. Pick them up before the sales end.

That's more of an STG with a mech.

>Axis 5
If at first you don't succeed...

Metal Warriors is a mish-mash of Mecha storylines. The bad guys are space colony dictators attacking good guy earth. Each Space colony is named Axis (number). Sound familliar?

I bought this new for full price in 1995. The cover had a really cool robot that sold it for me.

I only have enough for one, which is better, Gunhound or Gigantic Army?
Whichever I don't get I'll probably buy at a later date.

You don't have 6 dollars?! Ask someone to gift them to you.
Gigantic Army is the better game, but they're both worth getting.

Funny thing, it's a legit good on a non-suitable platform.
