Except they're not. They're completely indistinguishable from humans biologically, that's why they have to use the Voight-Kampff, which is really just a vague emotional immaturity test.

For all intents and purposes, Replicants are just artificial humans. That's the entire point of the movie, that we find ways to hate each other, from racial stuff and phrenology to making replicants second-class citizens.

Nope. Gen 3s are basically an "perfect" artificial humans made from the ground up with a unidentified "Synth component" somewhere on them. You can see this being done in the Institute from start to finish and its noted a couple of times that even if you open one up surgically they are physically identical to humans, even inside (That one underground fortification where they were trying to develop a synth test is the main example that comes to mind).

Its gen 2 and 2.5 (Like Nick) that have spoopy robot skeletons.
