I lurked a little already and can see what you mean. I guess I'm less interested in knowing about the actual board culture as I am knowing about the different mechs and particularly about the model kits. Does everyone's knowledge really come from just watching the shows? Also, which of the shows are considered the better ones because I know there are like 50 of them. Are they connected at all? I know like nothing. I spent like 6 hours building my first kit and couldn't even tell you the name of the mech lel.

I tried cutting the kits as close as possible with some old wire cutters but even then some of the nubs were hard to deal with (you can see one towards the end of the sword). I was too afraid to keep cutting down for fear of scratching the plastic or breaking something. What's the best way to completely clean away stubborn nubs?

Also, if you don't mind me asking some more questions, What do you mean exactly by "line the panels"? Also, What is Gunpla/Plamo? Is that a name for certain types of kits or something?

This kit is from Gundam 00, as flawed as it is, it's an adequate first entry into Gundam. First season is genuinely decent, the rest... is opinions.
You could watch this and the original gundam if you aren't allergic to late 70's animation.

If you desire to go for more in the Gundam universe for only a glimpse of the mecha genre, well... sky is the limit really.

I started lurking when IBO first came out, in the last year Ive watched most of UC twice (In chronological order instead of production order which is a biiiig no no as far as this board is concerned).
I became really morally invested in the characters by the time I rewatched the original gundam which made it way more watchable for me. ive projected a lot of these investments onto their ms so I rember the names of suits of characters I particularly liked.
People shitting all over a few gundam series made me enjoy them more, wing in particular
Respectively they also pointed out a lot of the worst parts of them making them even less watchable, seed.

"Better" is pretty subjective, people will argue some stories are better then others. Most of them arent that great.
I watch for mecha porn and zeon wank so I personally loved Unicorn. 00s MS have a lot of character that isnt as over the to as wings goofy suits.

Sorry, did you mean the kit is flawed or that 00 is an anime series that is flawed? Would you mind elaborating on what you meant and why? Just curious to learn more because from my limited knowledge, I really like this mech but that's probably because its the first I ever built.

He's talking about the TV show, because /m/ loved the first season and disliked the second season (because it was different and closer to the usual Gundam story) and the movie (because aliens).

About the kit, I haven't built that one, but it was released during the first season and those are still not as good as what came later. But if you like it, that's all that matters.

Do your self a favor and drop the whole "online culture" mindset. The so called culture is mostly memes that no one outside of the group would give a shit about. Individual boards on 4chan, /m/ for example, is not a hivemind, but full of people who pretend it is. At the moment you can easily find threads telling you why something is garbage or why something else is fucking great, take those with a grain of salt, it may not be true or agreeable.
