Well, yeah, but for all the talk of hope Exodus essentially ended with an avoidance of a worst case scenario and the potential for progress in many years time. There wasn't much to celebrate or feel good about.

One thing I'm surprised about is that if the new production is about 15 years later we probably won't see the cast exploring their new home and uncovering secrets about it.

Exodus felt like it came out of nowhere and people anticipating it had waited ages already. At that point they may have only been greenlit and didn't have anything planned for it.

The Beyond is a follow up to a show that aired last year. Exodus' ending was so open that I'm sure they had already been planning the beyond at that point. Story and concept might already have been ready.

Also securing animators, staff and the VAs might be much easier if its following up a recently finished project. Hell it may even have been planned to continue working on it when they were doing Exodus.

Still I'll happily wait for this anyway.

The thing is we don't know if this is a TV series or a movie. If it's a TV series then very likely 2018 but if it's a movie, I could see them sneaking in 2017. But according to the ancient information books from the original series, the one the staff invisioned taking over Alvis after Fumihiko is Kenji.

So if Fumihiko bites it, he'll likely be kicked out of the Siegfried System to run command.

Of our old pilots, it currently seems as only Rina, Sakura, and Kenji are inactive, which by process of elimination of "oh god who the fuck would ever think having Sakura run the siegfried system is a good" that leaves Rina, or Sui running it on the battlefield.

Maya's clearly has her defined role though. She'll pilot until the bitter end and if she ever can't, she'll fill in Mizoguchi's shoes.

Kazuki's too Kazuki to run Alvis. He might have some of Fumihiko's good traits, but he lacks the real life experience and people management skills that Fumihiko had, and that Kenji ended up developing after the end of DA.

To stop Altair from siding with the remaining Polaris fragments, Tatsumiya went into stasis/sleep with Altair, with the goal of reviving when the exiled Tatsumiyans and Ashoka were strong enough to communicate with Altair.
