I actually kind of like how they handled Juggler "reforming." He's still a scumbag sexual predator, but his little breakdown about how petty and spiteful he's been and how Gai and Naomi had faith in him despite everything he's done was a great character moment. He still has light in him and it's implied he'll start embracing it more like Gai embraced his darkness.

Finally been watching Ultraseven. It's an amazing show with a lot of intricacies and cool concepts, but I have to say, the humans bring this shit on themselves.

On closer inspection the snake heart sword sword sword thing is the attack he's using in the screenshots which should be Deceitful Decapitating Draw, or Treacherous Sword-Draw Execution if you don't luv alliteration.

Japanese are very strict in such things, when people working at the back end should NEVER come to the front and steal the screen time from those who works in front of the camera.
VA has blurred the line in the last 25 years, and normally got complaints from viewers.
Staff, artists, etc. normally stay out of the screen.

Just finished Ultraman Orb, first ultra show I've watched completely and I gotta say I really liked it.I don't think I dislike a single one of the characters from the main cast (Naomi was a top qt),even the more ridiculous ones like Itettsu or Shin. I liked the overall vibe of the show, particularly that it had some silliness but not to the point where it was downright annoying to watch. Seeing the stinky Kaiju taking a bath on the lake was hilarious.

Something I found neat was the environmentalist message thrown around from time to time, it feels like the only focus of so many media is on interpersonal relationships that a reminder to be conscious of the Earth was quite welcomed.

As for complaints I'd say the main one was that Juggler's actor wasn't really able to pull madness convincingly. He was good pretty much all the time except when Juggler went insane for no reason in the episodes he was in. Guess they were going for a Nolan's Joker sort of thing but it often fell flat. Another tiny thing was that Gai was a tad too aloof sometimes.

Overall: Lots of fun

Speaking of that piercing, there's something about Juggler that doesn't quite make sense to me.

After he loses the Dark Ring, he shows up again with a slightly new look and his whole snake ear thing is shown off, as if it does something special or is somehow important. Then he escapes from VTL and he's back to his original look. Nothing is ever made of why that piercing was apparently important.

I've actually kind of grown to like Zero over time. He was pretty insufferable in his debut movie and for most of Revenge of Belial, but after a while I think I kind of understood what kind of character he was supposed to be and he was a little more likeable.

He's a shonen anime protagonist, just as an Ultraman. He's a cocky teenager who's the strongest fighter with a bunch of bullshit powers and a band of quirky friends who goes on adventures and shouts about strength and bonds of friendship a lot.

Apparently there was a Next manga adaptation. It was a pretty decent read, albeit nothing to write home about

-Sara is more scientist oriented than pure military as in the movie
-The first 20 minute or so of the movie where Maki is with family and new job is skipped, we start at when shit goes down and Maki turns into Next for the first time.
-Next actually kills the One in their second encounter in the sewers with a L shaped Over Ray Storm instead of the + beam.
-The One revives after getting killed and absorbs Sara as a hostage (think Mebius and Ultra Bros)
-The military plays a pretty big part. They are like the military from Cosmos, i.e. attacking both Next and One and consider both of them to be threats. The foot soldiers eventually ignores the order from the heads after getting saved by Next
-The One attacks the hospital where Maki's wife and son are, The Next defends the building and thus becomes Junis form.
-The final fight plays out much the same but in reverse climax order: Maki's friend tries to kamikaze The One but pulls out when Next/Maki screams, Next gets beat up, Maki and Next mind meld and Next learns to fly, cuts One's wings and finishes him with Over Ray Storm
-The ending hints at the inheriting light and Himeya

Watched ep 20 of Orb. Holy shit was that a horrible episode. Only redeeming factor was seeing a Metron who was a decent combatant
