Cornelia wasn't actively racist. Just totally willing to play by the rules of the system and oppress any rebels. She got her sister killed and that slightly broke her, enough that Cornelia spent like 3/4s of R2 either off-screen or not performing her proper Britannia duties.

Super weapon tech does seem like something that new enemies may try to take advantage off. Same with the geopolitical situation.

The ending was less perfect and more extremely fitting, which is a different way to put it.

Alright so I honestly don't mind if this will be CG. I liked the fight scenes in Akito. The knightmares had a real sense of weight and momentum that the original show lacked. Watching sparks fly as Lancelot danced around these mooks and thrashed them to pieces was so satisfying, even if the spincam was a bit out of control at times.

Even IBO has some very obvious weak spots. It would be prohibitive for every Gundam TV series to have the same animation quality as Gundam Unicorn. Code Geass is not any different in that regard. If anything, IBO's relative lack of fighting in multiple episodes might have helped them conserve and distribute the budget better.

The thought elevator's origins in particular don't seem important to me, for the same reason I don't want or need to know how angels are made in Evangelion. Nor did I need to know where the Force came from in Star Wars or half the stuff they explained in the EU and prequels.

But there's a fair chance they'll address more of the Geass lore in the upcoming sequel, even if they still don't spell out everything.

The mystery behind all the fantasy shit in Code Geass is irrelevant, from a thematic point of view. The power of Geass, the emperor's instrumentality plot, etc. are just narrative tools used to escalate the show's central themes.

At its most basic level, CG is first and foremost a story about human temperament. The supernatural mysteries (I wouldn't even call them "mysteries" since it's irrelevant) are a means to that end, and they don't constitute the central focus of the plot. It's a story about Lelouch and Suzaku's personal journeys, not something akin to a Dan Brown novel.

But is all of this just an excuse for lazy plot-writing? Yeah, kind of. But at the end of the day, like I said, the fantasy shit is irrelevant, so most viewers can look past it and focus on the show's more consistent strengths/themes.
