IIRC he never wanted to do the entire series in the first place.
It was more of a "Hey, check out how terrible that show that you thought made no sense was subbed! Maybe in the future someone can clean that mess up!" kind of deal.

He never even got to the really awful part of Ordian either. Just the totally forgettable, vaguely incompetent first half. To Ordian's credit though, it does feature one of the two or three scenes in Obari's entire directorial career that were well directed. Namely, the flash back where the viewer first learns that the protagonist is a clone/whatever the fuck. Shame it was in Ordian. The designs too for that matter, even if Ordian is a shameless rehash of Dangaizer and Dragon Fang is straight up plagiarized.

The most interesting thing about the show is the soundtrack which is a bizarre mix of totally horrid music and absolutely fantastic tracks. Ordian's debut theme in particular is worth finding the album for.

If you mean that it resembles Dragonar D-1 then fuck off since they look almost nothing alike outside of the horns and red headplate.
Hell, it looks more like a Shiranui Second than the D-1.

It doesn't look anywhere near as bad when you put the line art together. Maybe it's just the stock proportions used in the OPs for both shows that made me think they were near identical? Did Obari even animate the Ordian OP for that matter? I know he barely touched the animation for the show in general.
