So I've been dicking about with this demo.

You can air cancel any move up to 3 times you can do some pretty interesting stuff like becoming a buzzsaw yoyo in the air.

The combat feels a bit floatier than I was hoping, doesn't feel as "tight" as Platinum's other games or even the original Nier. But other than that I liked the demo quite a bit, the dub's sounding good too.

If all I'm trying to get out of a game is the plot so I can better enjoy a newer entry in the series, I'll tend towards LP. I'm no longer a NEET, and generally have multiple games vying for what little free time I have. It's unreasonable to try and squeeze in yet another game, especially one that's on old gen console or that has known clunky controls or the like, when instead I can watch an LP, most of which will cut out the tedium of grinding and meaningless fetch quests so I can enjoy the cutscenes and story related quests. That's not to say I disagree with you. I want to play Nier myself to enjoy it firsthand, but time prevents me...

I strongly urge you to experience the game for yourself first. Don't just go and watch an LP of this game without at least giving it a try. The gameplay is no where near as bad as some people make it out to be.

Especially since 300 years after ending D Emil has somehow built himself a cyborg body, and aliens land on earth. This leads to Emil fighting the aliens in space and coming out the victor.
Honestly I'm just excited to see if he and any other nier characters show up in automata in some way. Emil has to be related in some way since a lot of the enemies we've seen fucking look like him. And his head showing up in that one trailer.

Even if he shat all over the PC market, porting would have nothing to do with him, being just creative director. Porting would be eihter handled in-house by Platinum and their usual associates (korra, Transformers and Rising all run great), or by a different team assigned by Square.
