One of my biggest gripes with Disney era fights were their overuse and misuse of the wirefu technique. It got really bad with Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive then died down by RPM. I get that Power Rangers are able to defy gravity to an extend but the wirefu in Operation Overdrive was clunky and obvious.

I figure I might as well get to the meat of what I wanted to ask. What does /prg/ think of Devil May Cry, at least 3 and 4? I thought there'd be a lot of overlap in the fandoms due to both being kinda camp action series while also sharing a few cast members.

Plot and aesthetic-wise it's generic as fuck. Dante is a walking cliche, I still like him despite him being pretty much everything I usually dislike.
As for the gameplay part, 1 was ok for it's time(too easy though), 2 was ok, even if a little boring. 3 deserves the fame it has, it's pretty good.
4 was meh and easy as fuck, it took me getting to the final boss to realize I've never seen the game over screen. I don't consider myself a fan though since I didn't even play the fifth one(I know everyone hates it and probably has good reason too but I can't say it's bad if I haven't played it, even if I do consider the reboot unnecesary) or watched the anime, I just played those games(and Dante in MvC3 if that counts).

So far they've done a good job at making the characters and story "mature" enough where it's not edgy mcgrimdark or un-Power Ranger like.
When the books were first announced I had a feeling of unease because the current state of comic books hasn't been all encompassing to a wide audience.
It's adult comic book fans writing and pandering to other adult comic book fans who want more sex and violence.
I was happy that the tone of the Power Rangers comic was handled well and one shots form the annual embodied the spirit of the show perfectly.
Let's see where they go with this.

So what is you guys favorite and least favorite series? My favorite is In Space of course and my least favorite is probably Operation Overdrive which is also the last one that I watched. In space did have a shitty zords though.

On my first viewing, I thought MF was barely passable but SMF was trash. On my second viewing on MF, however, I noticed a lot more shit that I'm honestly surprised I didn't realize the first time. I was more lenient on my first viewing (though I didn't think it was very good even then), but now I'd say that Megaforce is only slightly less trash than its "Super" season.

I say that both seasons should be judged collectively, but I think you could also merit judging the individual halves in the event that there's a noticeable gap in quality between the two. Though in the case of Megaforce, I don't think there's enough of a difference for me to say much more than "Megaforce sucks; Super Megaforce sucks harder."

I like them, but having armored cockpit modes is so fucking backwards. Just utilize them for ground battles when shooting original footage. You can make it like Super Samurai/Shark Mode where only one person can use it at a time, or Lights of Orion where it's all or nothing, or come up with a new stipulation to explain it being used sparingly.

Also instead of inventing superfluous Ranger forms why don't they just make civilian figures already? That's something I've always wished for, and I think teams with uniforms would do very well. The fandom killed my interest in the show.

I got back into PR when SPD was airing because I caught an episode and got super nostalgic of MMPR and got hardcore into the fandom and had a lot of fun watching SPD, DT etc then everyone complained about the Disney seasons and how Saban was great for the next few years but as many flaws as the Disney seasons had they were alright to me and would've enjoyed them more if it hadn't been for the fandom.

Saban buys back PRs and we're all waiting for the glory days to return, I watch the first few episodes and think they're alright, I see all the reactions on the fandom and stopped checking out Samurai since it was apparently so bad. Iw as super hyped for Megaforce and the fandom says iit's shit, I finally watch it all and it was shit but I've had no interest in the franchise anymore since then and I think a little positivity in the fandom and not "oh it all sucks now" kind of kills it for me.

what really killed it for me I think was the 20 episode 2 year deal per season, no matter how shitty a season was you had the hype of the next season and hope that it would be better or at the very least it would suck differently but now you're stuck with it for two years and by the second you're tired of it with so many hiatuses since it's so few episodes.

Seeing the sentai being revealed and knowing you won't get it for 2 years IF you get it as it may be skipped sucks.

As a passerby who likes Sentai but not PR who occasionally looks in on /prg/ out of curiosity I think it comes down to overlap of interests.

I think PR generally is pretty awful not bait, you guys like what you like, just an opinion and I just don't care to talk about it usually. But most PR fans I know either like or are just indifferent to SS so it's easier for discussion to happen without someone flipping out.

I guess what it comes down to is, it's harder to be negative about Sentai from a PR perspective because you need it and it's always relevant for spoilers etc. Where-as it's a lot easier to be negative about a show that's cutting up something you like and putting it back together as something you don't.

Hmm maybe there were multiple factors, but they definitely wouldn't have filmed their own original suit footage with the Sentai suits if they didn't want to save money.

I also feel like if they were worried about the katana, they would have just put a laser effect over it and call it a day, instead of going out and filming new footage with a new fight.

Honestly, it's so baffling in so many different ways, and I feel like this one scene is the biggest shame Super Megaforce has, even outside of the lackluster Legendary Battle. They were so determined to not spend money....that they filmed new footage of non-Power Ranger suits to do so.
