Thoughts on them designwise?

Outside the thin waists the Gundam Frames are fine. The issue was them not having enough screentime.

Love them all. They really nailed the demon aesthetic they were going for, except for the Rebake FC which looks more like a heavy-duty brawler which is cool in its own right.

I like the head design except for Barbados's. His V Fin isn't sharp enough like Vidar's. I also like the high heels that the Gundams have.

Awesome, all four.
Not only distinctive from the stantard "arr rook same" Gundam designs, but distinctive from each other while still managing to look "like a Gundam". Also love the design choice to go with beam-free meelee weapons because it gives each of them (and all the MS in IBO, really) interesting and distinctive weaponry instead of the standard

Didn't care much for vanilla Gusion, cared even less for Rebake, but it finally grew on me with the Full City, Similarly the Barbatos has gotten much more attractive with the Lupus look. I really want to get kits for all of them eventually.

Full City looks so fucking dull. Shit amazon box color scheme, I dont like the shape of the head, and I dont like the position of the extra arms.

Flarous is whatever. I havent seen enough of it to make a decision on whether or not I like it, but so far the transformation looks kind of dumb and I wouldn't like to see it in motion, as in moving in quadrupedal mode.

I like Vidar too I suppose. At least it's better than the shit Kimaris suits of before.

Either way, in terms of just Gundam designs I find IBO to be pretty lacking. Maybe it's also because none of them besides barby have ant particularly impressive fight scenes (seriously Kimaris did fuck all last season and it even got an upgrade). Or maybe because Barby is the only one particularly demon like, why is it only Barbatos that gets it's V fin shaped like horns and gets claws? Arent they all based on demons?

Gaelio's Gundams are sex on legs. Even Trooper's stupid hover centaur mode is passable.

Barbatos' 4th Form and Lupus are its best looks, even if I did like the dinosaur chainsaw mace thing on 6th Form.

Flauros is a neat design. The turret/shelling mode is interesting, but I don't think it'll work if it starts moving in that mode.

Gusion in its original form is a unique look for something called "Gundam." Rebake and Fullcity are kind of uninteresting.

My personal favorite of all of them is probably the original Kimaris.

I think IBO is the series to go to if you like 2 handed or blunt weapons, but for distinct weapons and stock animation I'd go to wing.

Does IBO have a lot of stock footage? I don't recall seeing it much in season one, but I wasn't looking for it and I haven't been watching season two. Also, most Wing grunts aren't really breaking the trend either. The Leo and Taurus usually just have a rifle and saber. If they ever have the saber. And while the Virgo I does buck the trend a bit by having a beam cannon instead of a beam rifle, the Virgo II is back to using the beam rifle if I recall. It's only really the more specialized suits that have different weapons in Wing too.

That's what I like about them too. They're all unique and non-traditional designs that can still be identified as Gundams. It's the idea behind the Arche done right.

The Barbatos in particular stands out because it's one of the rare protagonist Gundams that isn't directly inspired by the RX-78-2 beyond paint job. The Turn A is one of my favorites for the same reason.

The standard Gundam loadout is

The RX-78, 178, Zeta, ZZ, Ground Gundam, GP01-04, Nu, Unicorn, F91, Victory, V2, G-Saviour, Strike, Duel, AGE-1, AGE-2, I'm getting tired of listing them but you get the idea.
This is *standard* loadout for most Gundams in most Gundam shows. Some add other weapons on top of this like VSBR or Funnels, but outside of G Gundam the only time a design has eschewed the standard-issue beam saber for a meelee weapon was Sandrock and that one ridiculous Astray. Exia had physical blades, but still packed the standard rifle/beam saber/sheild combo. Justice had beam-boomerangs but still packed the standard rifle/beam saber/shield combo.

Not having beam sabers meant the designers got creative with the meelee weapons and we got a wide variety of distinctive weapons for the Gundams in IBO. Yes, rifles are still there. Yes, shields are still a thing. But no one in IBO is using the standard-issue weapons package that's been copied and pasted since 0079. We've got maces, butt pliers, rocket-cleavers,lances, zweihanders, rapiers, hatchets, two-handed axes, warhammers, and the motherfucking DINO-SAW.

Sandrock Epyon heavyarms and deathscythe and shenlong had non standard melee weapons.

Wing used sabers but it's main armnament was a cannon.

Their weapons were also more distinct as they were more integral to their identity.

Almost everything had a beam sword or two tacked on because They were easy to add on, but ignoring the rest of the weapons used because of it is obnoxious.

It's like the strike had two loadouts with two handed weapons but it still had a beam saber as backup.

F91 had a more distinct system than anything in wing.

Really? I was pretty meh on vanilla Gusion, but Rebake is pure sex. I especially like the bits where it was pulled together from Barbatos' spare parts and repurposed bits of the vanilla version. I think Full City is a bit of a downgrade, personally. That, and ass-scissors are a stupid weapon. I'm definitely going to buy two of that upcoming option set that includes a pair of long rifles to go with my HG so I can have it quad-wielding.

I don't think you will. That strikes me as more of a locked down position for better anchoring when firing. The shields kind of just bite into the ground instead of having any kind of flex or movement, and the legs look like they're still standard Gundam Frame that wouldn't have the range of motion to walk or run like that.

I remember reading the rumors about IBO. One of the rumors was Barbatos was going to Mega Man other suits. I was so hyped for that. It sort of did that, but not to the extent I was hoping.
