Gay couples have existed for a long-ass time, and at the very least alluded to for decades. Excluding hentai and shit, there's shows like Moretsu Pirates, Code Geass, Turn A, and this isn't even accounting for shows with outright flamboyant men who don't even hide the fact that they're gay (Leeroy in TTGL, OD in CROWDS, etc.).
