So aside from Macross and pic related, what are some examples of media where someone's actual home is a mecha?
The logistics of living inside a giant robot must be... interesting, to say the least.
Xabungle- everyone lives in the Iron Gear. No real problems come of it

>No real problems come of it
Which is odd since from what little I've seen of it, Xabungle seems like a fairly gritty series. You'd think that would be an issue at some point.

It's a series where robots run on gasoline and slapstick physics and it's still a real robot series. Don't think, give it a spin. It's great!

TTGL at multiple points
I remember hearing that the mecha in Hot-Blooded Strongest Gosaurer is supposedly the protagonists' school, if that counts.
Also I suppose you could say ZoE2 since Dingo dies if he ever gets out of Jehuty

The desert setting and real robot aesthetic must've tricked me into thinking it was dead serious. Probably should've known better from that awesomely cheesy 80s as hell theme song.

Acrobunch, which was done out of necessity since the villains destroyed the MCs' sealab home.

>xabungle
>serious
hahahhaha
Dude
The main character catches an ICBM with his robot and tosses it at the bad guys
Xabungle is one of Tomino's 'Comedy' shows, and while its still tomino and has dark moments, its genuinely funny and is not serious at all
How does one design a mech meant to be inhabited? Would the housing area be in the chest or the middle segment? Or is it best to just have the body be a sphere or box?
Fortress Maximus?
Striker pack designed to be a home.
Does the Gokai Galleon count?

well, they do live in it.
DekaBase is also a headquarters and living space.
iirc they closed alot of hallways and rooms whenever it turned into a mech
>>15032090
Acrobunch.
>>15032127
Well yes, Gosaurer was part of the school. Same with Raijin-Oh and Daiteioh. They don't live in the school though, except maybe Daiteioh, but we'll never know about that.

Does the air mobile factory from Ogruss count? I mean they live in it, have pretty comfortable quarters and food preparation areas. It's almost shaped like a Japanese temple with the red top. I'm iffy on this one.

The ol' Gurren Lagann backpack-house.
>>15033612
Gokai Galleon and the Trains from ToQger count.

I think Dekabase was the last transforming base, there were some others but I think they were pre-Zyuranger.
