Do you like Panzer Cops, /m/?
>>
Yes.
>>
>>15026793
That looks like that custom Zaku kit someone made.
>>
>second volume and spinoffs manga never

why.
>>
Yes. but Stray Dogs is fucking dull
>>
>>15028076
I just watched it expecting it to be a sequel to The Red Spectacles, and was surprised to see Koichi again. At least the Protect Gear scenes were cool.

Hell yes
>>
Yes. A Kerberos Riot movie would be phenomenal.

And I wish the tachiguishi material wasn't so hard to find.
>>
>>15028006
I dunno, kinda like the almost mythical status the Kerberos riots have in the main film trilogy
>>

Turns out dull parts were the only moment when Inui had solace in his life. His last moment where he tries to hold the red ball was perhaps the most tear jerking moment of the trilogy

But(t) fuck Oshii.
He has the ability to make one and a half hour movie seem longer than the previous 2 hour long movie.
>>
>>15029415
>He has the ability to make one and a half hour movie seem longer than the previous 2 hour long movie.

That right there is my issue. I LIKE Red Spectacles, it's wierd and surreal. It spends like 10 minutes in a scene where he takes to a crazy guy in a bathroom, yet it keeps you interested. None of that shit happens in Stray Dog,
>>
>>15029452
>takes

Talks, I meant.
>>
>>15029452
Surreal medium aware comedy Oshii>>> Unedited footage of nothingness Oshii.

Unfortunately, world only knows about the latter.
>>
>>15026793
Jin-Roh was my favorite movie in high school. Whenever I was feeling depressed I'd watch it for a sense of catharsis. Now that I'm pretty happy IRL I don't feel the need to watch it as much anymore, but maybe I should give it another go for old time's sake.
>>
>>15029566
Wait, are they related?
>>
>>15029605
and so the journey begins for another...

>Summer, 1995. On melting asphalt roads, people walked... leaving impressions of their footsteps behind. It was extremely hot...

What did Koichi mean by this?
>>
I recall the Manga being hilariously Japanese and all about inter-faction dickery and murder between the various public security organizations.
>>
>>15029942
Oshii simply loves those government inter-faction fuckeries.
>>
>>15029942
Volume 2 and Kerberos Riot never
>>
>>15030306
Volume 3 and Rambo vs Rambo never.
>>
>>15028076
Fuck you it's one of Oshii's best movies. And Kenji Kawai's score is amazing. He's made slower stuff than Stray Dogs.
>>
>>15030795
It isn't that it's slow, it's that NOTHING HAPPENS for 90% of it. It's the same issue I have with Star Trek The Motion Picture.
>>
>>15031158
Star Trek The Motion Picture is the best Star Trek movie.
>>
>>15031247

Well at least now I can count enough people who have ever said that to use up all the fingers on one hand.
>>
>>15031285
Wrath of Kahn is a meme.
>>
>>15031291

Actually my favorite is 6
>>
>>15030795
>Kenji Kawai's score is amazing

It's amazing throughout all the Kerberos stuff he worked on
>>
>>15029933
That it was so hot that the asphalt was melting, and when people stepped in them they left prints?

Are you saying there's no deeper meaning behind it? Koichi sure repeats it enough, until the taxi driver says 'but it was raining that day', which he is shocked by. It's one of the last things you hear, when the girl listens to it over the phone.
>>
So I finally got around to watching Red Spectacles cause of this thread and the ending really threw me off.

Haha, I'm surprised it was the ending that threw you off and not all the random cat screeching and wacky slapstick scenes. My only exposure to Kerberos for the longest time was through Jin-Roh, but man The Red Spectacles has easily taken its place as my favorite. I had to re-watch it immediately just to understand what I just witnessed. What a mindfuck of a movie.

>>15035507

The ending is kind of a "wait, seriously?" thing, but it makes sense

1995 was the year Kerberos rebellion occurred.

From what I gathered, Koichi was mentioning the escape we see at the beginning of the movie but the from taxi driver's comment, it seems it might be he made up to console himself, given that at some point in movie in a sudden color shot Koichi was shown running in a canal/ditch while a voice over says this is how he escaped.

Given that in the end of his dream, he says that the end anyone who was waiting for him 3 years later was none other than himself, it might mean that Koichi returned Japan only to face some guilt he had apart from meet the red ridding hood girl (about which we will never know much thanks all material in moon runes).
events in Stray dog might have something to do with Koichi's return too

FTFY.

Can't believe I committed so many mistakes.
>>

So , what do you think happened with the briefcase at the end of the movie?

I think that the girl with red scarf actually swapped it with one filled with the red spectacles and took away the gear.

>>15036227
So Koichi was actually a cowardly piece of shit? Makes sense, given what we see at the beginning of Stray Dog.

>>15036240
Didn't Inui end up taking the Protect Gear for himself before being killed? He stole Koichi's briefcase, though I guess we don't know if it was ever recovered. I still have no idea what to make of the spectacles thing.
>>
>>15036240
I think the briefcase issue is what makes watching the movies in release order (reverse chronological) that much better. It's one of those weird moments to see it open and only be filled with glasses instead of what we're expecting.

But like the above poster pointed out, in Stray Dog Inui uses the Protect Gear that Koichi owned during the big showdown.

It's pretty clear his time with Inui has some sort of impact. I always felt like Koichi decided to go back, even without the gear, to settle the fact he abandoned everyone else (the color shot of him escaping alone seemed to me the reality of what happened).
>>
>>15026793

There's no translations so I've never read it.
>>
>>15038405
Anon, you get get the Red Spectacles subbed from Netflix
>>
>>15028076

Stray Dogs is great. The score really carries that film.
>>
>>15039479

The three movies, sure. But the series is a comic one primarily. That's all untranslated.

In reality, part of the manga series is translated and you can easily find it on any manga reader online.
>>
>>15041471

Is the series as pro-fascist as it seems?
>>
>>15041498
No, but you can always consider it like that.

It should be said that it is a series made in japan, and japanese creators, and japanese people in general, tend to have a different view towards stuff like democracy and such, than the americans. Japanese creators dont seems to dogmatize democracy and have no qualms in having protagonists from totalitarian regimes.

In contrast, american made media seems to be the total opposite.

No, it's about how Blue Lifes Matter, mainly.

why do people assume that the characters occupation/views on things are inherently displayed as good by the writers?

gotta cry about something
>>
>>15041471
Seeing operator stuff like this always makes me want to play x-com. We need more operator games. Movies too. More in general.
>>
>>15044549
You can get cool power armor in all the XCOM games (both classic and new), though none of it is quite as cool/distinctive as the Protect Gear, IMO. On the other hand, you can actually turn your troops into cyborg mecha in the new XCOMs.
>>
>>15044618
I thought that the old x-com power armour look was pretty awesome. It really looked like you'd achieved a game-changer when you upgraded your guys from purple kevlar pyjamas to tank-suits. New games I think kind of dropped the ball on armour though. Being able to customize colours and such was an awesome idea but the actual designs I don't think are too hot.

I'm curious about the level of protection the Protect Gear provides. We know it's proof against 9mm and 7.62 Tokarev on the hard plates, but beyond that, I'm not quite sure.
>>
>>15047592
Well it survived a satchel charge in Jin-Roh.
>>
>>15038112
>watching the movies in release order (reverse chronological)

Isn't Jin-Roh like not canon to the other movies or something? I heard that once.

>>15042667

Because 99% of people on 4chan would do that if they were writing it.
