One of my major problems with AGE is the villains, because even putting aside that Ezelcant dies happily in his sleep like he did nothing wrong or that he seemed to have several different plans over the course of the show I think both Decil and Zeheart outlive their usefulness to the plot. Both of them survive in to the next generation without any real need, and while in Decil's case it's ultimately harmless if rather pointless I think Zeheart actively hurts the plot by doing so for the simple reason that he acts as almost the main villain of generation 3 (or 3 and 4 if you prefer) and Kio's villain, Ezelcant's clone only shows up in the last episode and has no dialogue or personality. If Zeheart had been killed at the climax of Asemu's arc then Zera Gins or whatever his name is would have almost had to be introduced earlier and given both dialogue and personality just to fill space if nothing else, and Kio saving him would have had some weight because we'd have some connection to the character. It would benefit Kio immensely to have his own villain rather than just letting him bounce off Flit (which was also needed, though also executed pretty badly) and would certainly benefit Zera Gins. Zeheart dying earlier would probably have made Zeheart less of a joke as well.

I don't know. Neo destroyed one of the few half decent characters in SEED for little to no effect, but Zeheart destroyed himself for little to no effect in the same show.

Mwu wasn't particularly interesting, but he was at least likable and acted as a relief valve to all the melodrama of the rest of SEED's cast. Zeheart didn't have that, not even in arc 2 where he's introduced. He's not an interesting or likable character, he's just a mediocre one there to fill a quota.
