I took my time to play the Unicorn story, so the Unicorn line. Getting them thru develop takes quite a long time.

I only ever played Wars and Overworld (not coming close to finishing either of them), so I'm not sure what is new and not, but my favorite units overall are:

Dozle's Zaku II, G-Line, TR-4 Dandelion, Hummingbird, Gyan Eos, Full Armor Hyaku-Shiki Kai, Delta Kai, GM Guard Custom and the Titania.

Looking to reunite the 603rd's pilot complement (pic related). Seeking a Tamed Racing Pilot to fill the 4th Man slot.

My impulses say Yazan (Zeta) but my brain says someone Zeonic. But if I scout Zeonic I'll be getting Mallette for his perma-High Vigor persona (and to keep from breaking up Midnight Fenrir).

Any good alternatives from the OYW/interbellum years, or am I gonna have to get off my duff and start playing Zeta/ZZ/UC missions for a suitable foil?

What would you all say is your favorite of all the campaigns so far in Genesis? I enjoyed Zeonic Front and Cross dimension quite a bit so far, if only for the music and some of the stage hazards introduced. Currently on the verge of finishing Lost War chronicles and moving onto 0081, so I still have plenty of content to work with.

It is far from the worst game in the series, even by Sony Console exclusive standards.

Neo is a train wreck of gameplay design and it essentially being a prototype for the crossover plots we would get from World and Overworld.

The Original G Generation for ps1, while having some really cool stage design and ideas at times, has awful pacing issues due to not being able to chain kills like in every other entry. It forces the games speed to an absolute crawl.

I agree the lack of cut in's are very dissapointing, but the refined game play and stat rebalancing makes for a very solid experience. While I like Spirits a tiny bit more, the fact this game replaced the awful haro system with a more cut and dry quest system is very welcome.

Also think of the positives here, if G Generation Genesis does well, we might see it's eventual sequel in English as well.

Outside of DLC whoring out the door with Hathaways Flash content, Genesis has been a rather fulfilled game for the price tag listed. The lack of everything post Hathaways Flash is tragic, but I have a feeling Sunrise and Bandai itself would rather distance itself from everything post Unicorn, mostly given how Unicorns ending turns into a massive contradiction once you consider how much worse things gets from that point on.

(I do agree on that point though, it is unfortunate to lose that content.)

It has never been stated who the canon pilot of the Turn A was during the galactic-sized conflict between the space farring humans and Earth based human. If I recall correctly though, whoever was flying the Turn A at the time was most likely absorbed into the Mobile Suit itself during one of its quantum jumps. Whatever mental traces of the previous pilot that had been lingering in the System Turn A had been completely scrubbed by the events of Turn A itself though.

Unicorns ending essentialy pushes at the idea that mankind will naturally achieve a sense of understanding and that newtypes will become the most dominant and important figures of the future.

Go to Hathaways Flash, Federation outright starts enslaving migrants, Hathaway and his Zeon remnants are brutally slaughtering Federation soldiers and innocents and Anaheim is politically even more powerful than at the end of Unicorn.

Another 20 or so years after that, F91 concludes that the Earth and spacenoid conflict is just repeating and Newtypes are becoming a dying breed of species.

Even ignoring Crossbone, the Zanscare insurrection exist in a time where the Federation has all but fallen, rabid spacenoids under the control of the Jupiter Empire at slaughtering humanity in mass and Newtypes are either being completely weaponized or are in total hiding.

Unicorns ending points at a sense of hope in the future. Everything following it pushes towards a bleak and hopeless future. Hell by G Saviour, mankind is starving out due to the planets food and water reserves either being toxic or unusable.

Bring two ships. Even if the second one is a dinky 1-squad one like Mini Tray.

Have your Little Ship (assuming by now you have at least one ship with 2 squads; if you don't, go play some Zeonic Front for at least the Zanzibar unlock) cover White Base and have the Big Ship camp the south. All the Map2 enemies except the one squad way in the north will come down the south hatch, and you can pick them off with squad crossfires as they drop in.

I'd say Garma Strikes since there's so many Magellas to get double credit from. White Base is the only one to really worry about, though. You can buy a Saberfish, develop a Core Fighter from it, then use it as Design fodder with various Federation MP units developed/caught elsewhere to get the Operation V suits on record.

Since you already added the unit to the list, from the moment you play a stage where they would have their GET gauge available you clear the quest and unlock them.

Distance between enemies and the 2 Chance Step max put a bit of a cap on that, but you can at least shave some hilarious amounts of time off event fulfillment.

I think on 0083-03 I wound up getting Gato from start to the Birmingham in 4 turns by having a transformed Ex-S Gundam and a couple other helpers blast things to near-death as Chance Step fodder.

Base stats are 16k HP, 160 EN, 280 attack, 280 defense, 300 mobility, 7 move.

Twin Maces is a 1 range physical melee attack with 3500 power, costing 14 energy.

Sword Mace is a 1-2 range physical melee attack with 5500 power, costing 30 energy and inflicting defense down.

Arm-Mounted 200m Cabbib is a 3-5 range physical ranged attack with 4000 power, costing 20 energy.

Alaya-Viyana System gives +20 attack and mobility, +10 accuracy and evasion. At Super High tension, these buffs are doubled.

Nano-Laminated Armor reduces damage from physical attacks by 50%. lol beam immunity

tl;dr it's going at 300/280/320 with the Alalavagina boost, upped to 320/280/340 at high tension and is a legitimate endgame melee unit.

Char's Zaku II [Origin] develops into Hyaku Shiki at 6, Sazabi at level 8

20 kills for one unit as a Challenge trigger sounds a bit superfluous. Remember that there might be people somehow still needing to fill Get Gauge for Fred's Pixy. Why they wouldn't have done so using Missing Link-3's Challenge (Fred gets 6+ kills of 12 needed to advance) is beyond me, but that's a far more reasonable way to do it - or better still, keep the 25 quota, but make the Challenge 6-8 each for Fred and Doug.

In other news, if you're going on the Psyco Haro hunt, don't do what I did and run only 1-2 Defense-capable MS per squad. Things started getting very ugly the second Gato showed up.

You've already nailed down more or less the fastest way to Alex.

Kampfer takes a slog through Zaku II -> Zaku II High Mobility Ground Type -> Gouf -> Gouf Custom -> Efreet -> Kampfer. I've heard "50 Shades of Zaku" bandied about as a complaint about the game's tech trees, and this kind of shit is why.

We're close to done with the organized-by-Gallery list of developable MS at (tiny url)/GGenesisDoes, and I'm debating constructing some kind of reverse lookup horror-web in the manner of my previous Gundam Breaker 3 weapon/shield development trees.

Cross Dimension: Everyone died, the end. Outside of the music and units, this campaign is completely forgettable.

Zeonic Front: I actually really enjoyed this campaign myself. Getting to fight from Zeons perspective of both Odessa and Jaburo is an interesting idea and it works rather well in execution.

Missing Link: Now that I can understand the story in english, I can safely call the story a fanfic turned video game. With that said, I found the last two missions at Solomon and A.Boa.Qu to be a lot of fun. It's to bad they decided not to cover the 0090 and 0096 sections though.

Rise from the Ashes: Not sure if it was dialogue execution or just the story itself, but I found this story to be an utter bore to read through. Even the stages tended to be rather cut and dry. Not awful and I am happy it is back from F, but it could have been done slightly better.

Gundam Senki "0081": Utterly boring both gameplay and story wise. Not sure if it just because I found the original game to be droll, but I found this to be the weakest of the new content.

I kinda hope we see some new story based DLC. though I kinda doubt it. I personally am happy to finally understand what was going on in Hathaways Flash plotwise, though I can tell a good amount of details from the original novel had been cut out.

Also while I understand this game is basically a full on remake of Spirits, why in the holy mother of hell do they keep using Zeta Gundam "A New Translation" if ZZ immediately contradicts it? I would be fine with this if that campaign had different endings, but the TV ending just does not exist at all in this game or Spirits, leading to the opening of ZZ making little to no sense.

Chrono Runs will be silly but doable, mostly silly because of the sheer mission density within the One Year War. Even if you're avoiding fielding GMs and GM Commands until after Jaburo, you'll just have an incredible levels edge on your Zakus and GM Ground Types that grunts for Zeta/ZZ won't really get.

I couldn't say anything about your "delete just the DLC" plan because I don't have that option on Vita, but I've got a bad hunch that it'll break your save outright. Consider how whenever Gundam Breaker 3 gets an update patch, you're given an info box that says "your save will no longer be compatible with older versions".

Due to the fact my Vita is running a 4 gig memory stick and is barely holding the physical data along with the update pack that brought it up to roughly 3.8 gigs, I may eventually want to switch back to my US account on my Vita, but the problem remains that if another DLC comes out and downloads, it would end up on vitas internal memory instead of the memory stick.

I imagine this issue is far more tolerable on the PS4, but the convenience of carrying around one of these games brings out the series best points.

man 1.02 comes with an awesome bug, you can now make FA Unicorn permanently in destroy mode.
here's how:
1. get fagcorn
2. get fagcorm to destroy mode(high tension) in any stage
3. purge the armor
4. level up the unit(not sure if this is necessary)
5. finish the stage without returning fagcorn to the ship after completing step 3 & 4

don't do this in older version because you'll end up losing your full armor parts.(my lvl 11 fagcorn becomes lvl 11 vanillacorn)

The four HF units are limited to their own tech tree, yeah. You'll have to fill the GET gauge on either the Messer or the Xi. Xi is a monster but its sky high stats make it so the GET gauge barely fills. Be prepared to feed it the majority of the enemies on the second map in order to get it.

The DLC seems to work exactly as it did for Gundam Breaker 3 (content delivered in patches to the game, each DLC purchased consists of the license to unlock it). Theoretically, if you're playing the PS4 version, cross-region loading can be done in the same manner (have your JP PSN and your main gameplay PSN be primary accounts on the same system).

There are two ways. The first is to get the Origin unit DLC and evolve the Orgin Zaku into one of Char's future units, the second is to just get one of his future units separately. You then go to the design section and use the Char unit with a normal Zaku.

You can get Haman and Lalah on the same evolution line. Just get something to the Elmeth (I got a Zaku up eventually to the Bishop, then HM Psycommu Zaku, then Braw-Bro, then Elmeth) which can then be turned right into the Quebeley, or you can turn it into the MP Quebeley, which can be made into both the regular Quebeley and the Geymalk. Hit the land mines with all 5 hits with the Submachine Gun every attack, hit Boone with whatever on the last Chance Step (preferably Aurora Attack), then kill him on the counter.

You'll want to Chance Step a Leader/Master to Bork's start point to seal the deal. Lock-On is a must, High Vigor is gravy on Normal but required on Hard or higher, Quick Motion/Sway could help any swing-hard strategy that leans on hitting Boone with two Super Criticals.

Nowhere near as many field enemies, but the Sadarahn can give out some serious EXP Boosted gains for a solo killer.

They brought back things like Jabbers and Dodais in Generations. Your ships can now hold up to 8 of that type of unit each (I go 4 space, 4 air by default) and they can be freely used by different units. What's also nice is that if you have a unit embarked on one, that new combined unit treats movement and attacking as two separate things. So you can have a unit with a MAP attack on a Dodai. The unit moves, but if you don't attack, only the Dodai's turn ends. The unit on top of it can now use its MAP attack after moving. Or you can disembark and get bonus movement for that turn, although you'll leave the Dodai defenseless.

What? Every resource I looked up on F and earlier classed all those WMDs as either support units (like the SFS units) or ships (though that's arguably worse since it costs you several deployment slots instead of just one).

Jotunheim is a passable Big EN-Guzzling Turret, it's just not on the same level as launching disposable Nuclear Missile units or commandeering Colony Drops/spaceborne superlasers. The "war crimes" implements are typically reserved for, and more suited to, games like G-NEXT and Gihren's Greed where you're playing out an entire war effort on a strategic level rather than visiting TV/Game/Manga events mission-by-mission.

Likewise, the desperation of trying to guard multiple transport planes in the Dublin mission of ZZ as a colony is slowly creeping towards the planet added to the tension of that battle. Add the fact that its drop location is randomized to where ever it falls into orbit make the situation even more hectic.

I remember back in G Generation Zero how you could prevent the colony from hitting Sydney if you have a MAP weapon used against it, allowing you to skip the battle of Loum completely.

Kind unfortunate that F cut out a lot of Multiplayer maps from Zero, but I guess trying to get a match made up could be rather troublesome in the first place.

Barbatos Lupus is the only Barbatos in the game, is DLC, and is free. (Which means you can get it easy on PS4, and getting it on Vita is complicated.)

Just wrapped up all the OYW storylines, and holy hell are there a lot of them. I feel like the rest of the game is going to be a bit of a letdown after all that, unless shit like Zeta and Unicorn are ten stages each.

Zeta and Unicorn are both 6 stages.

Zeta covers the movie trilogy, which essentially means that events like Kilimonoro and Dakar just don't happen. Basically its a carbon copy of the missions from G Spirits.

ZZ is much the same, a lot of jumping around in the story, so basically the same boat as spirits mission wise.

CCA is a bit odd in how its structured. You get to use Amuro for Mission 1, but the final mission has you fighting as Char and his Newtype Unit instead, unlike previous games which had you as Amuro for the Axis assault. Again, much like how spirits handled it.

Unicorn just about covers everything from the source material, so generally you are getting the full package with that one.

If you want a game that really gets into the meat of those stories, SD Gundam G Generation F on the PS1 gives you basically everything from the Original Zeta, ZZ and everything post CCA outside of Unicorn (for obvious reasons)

That's disappointing, but unsurprising. After roflstomping through the tail end of the OYW with endgame units like Hi-Nu and the various flavors of Unicorn, I was hoping for more time to play around with later-era enemies.

Also, what are the recipes for any of Ridden's units? Matsunaga was easy enough to figure out, but anything + a red unit gives me a Char custom instead. As far as I can tell, the only way to get him is to feed him literally all the kills on that one Missing Link stage.

F is still the game with the most gameplay I think. Especially if you consider when it was made, they tried to pack everything they could into it.

Genesis may end up rivaling it depending on how much DLC they pump out for it. If they start putting out bundles of stages and the suits to go with them there is no telling what we might end up with.

I would not call the post-PS1 G Gens underwhelming, hell I think Spirits and Wars are both fantastic entries into the series that Rival F at times. However I will say that F is the most complete game in the series from the ammount of content it gives you.

G Generation Original: 0079 (and minor parts of other OVAs and games) + 0080 + 0083 + 0087 + 0088 + 0093

G Generation Zero: All of the above, but all OVA material is completely fleshed out as well, along with Sentinel being completely included. Game also goes past CCA into F91 and Victory Gundam. Very breif stages from G, Wing and X are also included

G Generation F: Every single major side story, Ova and even some Novel/ manga plots are fully included. Rise from the Ashes, Hathaways Flash, F90, and Sillioute Frame F91 stories are fully included. All of G, Wing, G-Unit Wing, Endless Waltz, X and the first quarter of Turn A are included, along with a fully realized version of the Turn A and Turn X. (Moonlight butterfly devours all the energy of every enemy on the field, and turns all of the map terrain into desolate, lifeless land.)

Yes, the team discussed the idea and unanimously agreed that putting out *something* would be nice. However, some members are concerned that Bandai will shut it all down, and then they won't be able to put out a more refined release. I mean, there's talk of even translating the database some time after release. So no early release for the time being.

That said, there really isn't that much left to do.
