Honestly even 2 shots would be pushing it. This isn't like Ride was grazed by some shots. He leapt in front of it and it was pouring all over his mech for half a minute and all you see is it's a little singed. No molten metal, not even the paint worn off, and he's still fighting like nothing happened seconds later? It's just too much.

When that beam hit Ride he should have been done. He can live, but his Shiden should have been finished, totally immobilized, armor warped around the frame so it's a pain in the ass to even repair.

I can accept that maybe the beams carried by MAs are not meant to fight MS. I can accept that nanolaminate armor, which can apparently be burned off by far more primitive forces like napalm, can diffuse beams. I can even accept that an MS can take a beam to the face and still be in fighting condition.

Because a horde of plumas, while scary, is not as scary without some big dick big boss commanding them all and serving as a huge, imposing juggernaut of an enemy, dwarfing the protagonists in size and force, not just number(because large numbers in Gundam just means mooks).

The MAs are a great idea. Utterly merciless, no human element whatsoever, programmed to murder civilians first, massive amounts of destructive power AND they shit out an infinite wave of buglike soldiers who just crawl over and rape everything.

But then having its main, most intimidating weapon fall flat like that sucks. And it sucks because this is IBO's first beam weapon, which debuted so impressively. It should have been like the sword of God. At least one named faggot should have died. Everyone should have been shaking. The best an MS can do with all its nanolaminate would have been to let you survive.

S2 is cutting out the in-between stuff for the most part, about six months chronologically has taken place between the last 10 episodes with at least 3 different plot trees started and finished (Tekkadan vs Hugo pirates, Earth Tekkadan vs SAU/Goodguy Beardman, and this current arc with the MA that's been foreshadowed for a few episodes prior) instead of just "Let's get Kudelia to Earth but first let's deal with this shit at Dort".
