I'm looking for sci-fi comic. This is all I know:
- Published in 1990. I remember thinking it pretty advanced for something older than me.
- Follows the story of a cyborg shogun who is the apparent sole survivor of some space marshal force.
- Part of the first volume is all a flashback about who he was before he was turned into a cyborg.
- He was policeman in a future society where sex is seen as repulsive, and all people are homosexual if they have a sexual inclination at all.
- In the present day, the shogun saves a woman from some space goblins who had raided her colony and were raping her and other prisoners.
- At the end, this main character and this woman enter a virtual reality simulator and have sex.
- The MC monologues an Albert Einstein quote at one point about "I know not what weapons will be used in the third World War, but the fourth will be fought with sticks and stones."
- The cover of the volume I had had a samurai with a straw hat and a poncho maybe, standing over a derilect wasteland.
- The power of the crystals that powers the Samurai and which is coveted throughout the universe of this comic starts with an "R" and is an unusual word. Something like "Reigaki."
The comic was pretty big in area. It dwarfed other comics I have. That's all I really remember other than the name I think having the number seven in it. But I'm not banking on that.
I forgot, the OP pic is the same style as the comic. I would put money on it being the same author even, but I can't find any other of his works.

It sounds cool.

>Cyber 7
Why did no one tell me CyberSix has a sequel?
>>15015952
Was this a "comic" as you say, or a manga? Was it in English? Was it color or B&W?
>>15017586
As far as I know it is a comic made by a Japanese author like the example I posted. Yes, it was in English. And in full color.
Around 80's pages long. Cover was hard paper. Mine fell apart after a few years because the adhesive didn't hold up. I found it at a Goodwill in Florida.
>>15017637
And its dimensions were physically large? Like, it was taller and wider than most comics?
And was this full-color comic all painted, linart with regular colors, or a mixture of the two?
Sounds like it's probably a Chinese comic.
>>15017669
It was like 12" by 6", so yeah I think it was pretty big for a comic. It was full-color, all painted. Just like the comic in OP.
The only difference that stands out to me, from that cover is the girl's face is too anime-ish. I distinctly remember the comic I'm looking for having uglier characters.

>Published in 1990. I remember thinking it pretty advanced for something older than me.
>I remember thinking it pretty advanced for something older than me.
>older than me.
>1990
>casually implying that you were born after 1990 and that anything made before your year of birth was simplistic and lacked depth because lol old shit sucks
>>15017701
>It was full-color, all painted. Just like the comic in OP
The comic in OP, "Cyber 7," was all black and white in its interior art.
>>15017701
>It was full-color, all painted
It's extremely rare for Japanese comics to be in full color. What you're describing sounds like a Chinese wuxia comic -- something like those by Khoo Fuk Long. Was the artwork kinda like this?
>>15017788
That looks khool as fuk.
"Takeru" by Buichi Terasawa?
>>15017793
Yeah, Chinese comics can look pretty boss sometimes
>>15017793
>>15017805
And sometimes... not so much
>>15017763
Holy fuck.
>>15018191
Word. That comic was strange.
>>15015952
Sounds like something by Moebius/Jean Giraud maybe.
>>15019152
Or maybe Jodorowsky, or Janjetov. The whole homosexual thing sounds like something they'd do.
>>15017806
>Taiwanese
>also made back when Go Nagai was the shit, I think
Remember that the Taiwanese have been weebs since WW2.
>>15017805
>Hongkong Chinese, only took off during the 80s or so, I think
Lotsa Anglo influences there.
So the comparison is unfair, to say in the least.
>>15019152
Good point, come to think of it. Might be something from Metal Hurlant/Heavy Metal.
>>15019178
The 80-page length also sounds like a typical Bande Desinee, or other types of mainland European comics.
>>15017788
It was nothing like that.
>>15017801
No. Didn't look even close to realistic.
>>15019152
Nah. I've seen his stuff. Didn't look anything like that. It was colorful, but used it conservatively. For instance, the entire hologram sex scene at the end is just 3 - 5 pages of black, brown, and red tones; with a whole page finishing shot at the end. (I didn't know about this until I took it home.)
>>15019170
Doesn't sound familiar. I am strongly inclined to say that there was some Asian name on the cover, but the book was DEFINITELY published by an English company. I was sure it was Eclipse, but they have nothing that resembles it unless there's a void in Wikipedia's catalog for them.
>>15019178
Never heard of. Doesn't sound familiar.
>>15019186
It might have been more like 98 pages or 106. Something like that. It definitely didn't reach 120.
>>15019399
>I was sure it was Eclipse
iirc Eclipse published for a lot of people, like Viz did their Area 88 comics through them I think
OP here, have I discovered the most obscure comic book series of all time?
/co/ failed, /m/ failed... Is this it? Will I have to wait until I die to know what it was?
>>15020641
You probably just described it wrong and possibly mixed up several different series. I mean, you thought Cyber 7 was full color but obviously that was wrong.
>>15020713
Because I never read Cyber 7. The comic is definitely real and not mixed up.
>>15020750
>The comic is definitely real and not mixed up.
Says you, but that doesn't count as proof.
>>15020774
YEAH BOYYY!! I found it by myself. What are you gonna say now?!
>>15020813
I'm gonna say that I was right because the details you gave were, in fact, wrong. You said
>it is a comic made by a Japanese author but published by an American company
which led everyone to believe you were talking about an early manga published in English. It was published in '92 and not '90 like you claimed. Also, it's a black and white comic and not color like you had said.
>>15020860
Psyyyyyyche!
Also I doubt you came across that comic online so tell me how you know it's in black and white other than assuming.
>>15020870
https://atomicavenue.com/atomic/issue/241696/Samurai-7-1
>>15020889
Yeah, but where's it say it's in b&w?
>>15020899
Ok fine fine. You got me.
I guess that makes us even.
And now, I will really reveal the comic you've all been waiting for. BUT FIRST, WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT PARALLEL UNIVERSES...
Imagine for instance, a universe where I had listened to you Doubting Thomas telling me I was seeing things. Well, then I wouldn't have gotten on eBay in defiance and sifted through "sci-fi graphic novels" until I found it.
So I guess we all have a purpose for existing, even in our doubt. On that notion can man doubt his existence, even as he doubts? Can chaos be ruled by chaos? A paradox resolve itself? If the multiverse theory is correct, must there not also be a universe then, where it is not? But nothing in the Universe is binary, and thus the Universe can't be Universe, which means chance cannot be true. For how can luck exist when only God disposes?
I mean to say that we crossed paths on /m/ tonight for a reason, so I could put a rest to my nearly decade long search for the greatest indie comic of all time. And so without further ado...

All I told you is that you were probably giving us false information which was making it hard to find what you were looking for. You're fucking crazy, kid. This isn't /r/ so you shouldn't have even made this thread in the first place, so the most courteous thing you can do now is just let it die. But instead you're bumping it with the most inane shit possible.
>>15020940
If we're not here to express our personalities without restraint, what then is the reason for posting anonymously?
>>15020940
Also, I just gave you the name of a comic you're probably looking for the cheapest listing of ebay of as I type this. The least you could do is say thank you.
>>15020944
The entire point is to discuss things without the taint of name recognition swaying reactions to a post. Also, stop shitposting.
>>15020950
Ah, you make a good point. I will oblige by your customs /m/. When in Rome after all.
>>15020937
I had this GN. Bought it when it came out a zillion years ago. Liked it, didn't love it. Very much not what OP described, but kinda cool. Mildly enjoyable, at least.
>>15021138
That's right, I remember now. The seven Samuroids in question had some Japanese mecha ripoff elements. Note the MC's Valkyrie legs.
