The recent few episodes have been a huge improvement in season 2 and a massive one compared to season 1 in general but its still a pretty subpar series with too much of the time having its characters being resorted as devices for exposition too often.

When it was aired, I was both shocked and satisfied. Like, show got some guts, not only Guts lookalike.
But after the last episode where they're alive and well, without a single fucking wound, I was pissed.

The odd thing I've noticed about IBO, if there's a male pilot whose suit is getting rekt they can show shrapnel or walls crushing and shit like that, but if it's a female, even if they toss some ambiguous blood on her, they haven't really shown her cockpit being structurally damaged. Lafter's arced electricity and her monitors filled with static, but that's it. Azee's just went dark. Carta's filled with water despite her cockpit being above the water line, but there wasn't shrapnel shown in her cockpit despite all the blood she'd spouted.

But at the same time, they aren't much for showing any sort of pilot restraint either. Often we see harnesses of some sort, but not here, and there's not much on the back of their suits for it to clip into the seat or something. So near as I can tell, these girls have all been hitting their head on walls/ceiling/controls and getting nasty, even fatal head wounds from it.

Figures always get exaggerated. The bigger they are, the more so. Just look at Gyanko - she's actually not that fat, she's just tall and has a wide head/shoulders. But her art is almost entirely of her being 200-300 pounds. Lafter's character art makes it look like she's busty because of the outfit and the weird angle, plus she's just thick everywhere else. Not much of a leap to be made.

Her character design guide had an instruction about he cleavage saying to only draw that triangular shadow, no cleavage. So that's something that has already been there since early stage. On a side note, nobody at sunrise cared about the complaints and I doubt anything was specifically changed to appease the parents.
