How does it compare to masterpieces like Thunderbolt and Crossbone?
>>15011945
It's actually good compared to the trash you listed.
>>15011956
>Thunderbolt
>Trash
Back in my days, people tried
>>15011945
Whys that Johnny guy using chars zaku?
>>15011978
It's just Char under an alias
>>15012056
Makes sense. As expected of the Lightning Baron
>>15011971
We call itBlunderdoltfor a reason!
So...is it good or not?
>>15012194
Mediocre Zeon fanwank.
>>15011945
It's one of the few UC sidestories that are objectively great. Ark Performance really has a way with making a likable cast with some great story beats.
Also, Yazan is in it as a recurring antagonist/lovable uncle.
>>15012066
No we don't. Fuck off.
>>15012427
Zeon actually plays a surprisingly small roll in Return of Johnny Ridden, and they get their asses handed to them in the main story, more often than not.
>>15014693
> and they get their asses handed to them in the main story, more
So they are portrayed in a sympathetic light?
>>15014908
That's my secret
It's always Zeekwank
>>15014908
They only recently became truly relevant with Char showing his face, and they're already talking about using the Astaroth superweapon from Side Story 0079: Rise From the Ashes.
Not terribly sympathetic at all.
>>15011945
What do I need to know before reading this?
Just read the first chapter. The girls are fucking annoying
>>15014687
>objectively great
>the monks
>the entire garbage earth arc
>>15015002
You just need to have seen 0079, Zeta and CCA to get most of the references. But otherwise it's a pretty self contained story.
The other Johnny Ridden manga are pretty shit and are best avoided, whereas this seems like a real labour of love on Ark Performance' part.
>>15015354
Isn't it Thunderbolt that has the monks?
>>15014687
AP also did the Plan to Assassinate Gihren Zabi.
>>15015831
>The other Johnny Ridden manga
Wait...there are others? Is "The return" meant to be a sequel?
>>15015860
There's an 80s one which is total Zeekwank, then there's the Hasegawa one which is rather unfunny and plotlesslike the rest of his work.
Return is not so much a sequel to these manga, it's much more like an interlude to Z/ZZ and CCA.
Is this still going on?
I just read the first chapter too and I understood jackshit.
Why is Johnny (I assume?) calling himself Led Wayline?
>>15015918
Amnesia. While the rest of his group were escaping after the end of the war he stayed behind to hold off a group of EFSF chasing down remnants. Ended up getting seriously hurt and losing his memories.
>>15017351
I thought he was Zeek? Why is there a gundam behind him?
>>15011945
I never got the timeline of this one. I mean when was that timeframe Johnny faced the Perfect Zaku and the time of his supposed 2nd death?
Is this aimed at people with prior knowledge of the Ridden series?
fuck my thread is still alive
>>15018148
yes
>>15017800
Read the thread, read the manga. He is not a part of Zeon anymore
>Expected an action packed story with fun characters
>Read first 4 chapters
>It's basically a history lesson on crap that I don't give a shit about
You told me it was good.
Fucking boring
>>15019029
The action amps up. Wait till Yazan and the Yazanlings show up, or Ingrid and her Itano Circus Gaplant.
>>15019221
Are you saying words??
>>15019029
>not liking a history lesson-style backstory on old mothballed variants and their pilots.
You're probably not very fun
>>15018729
What is the fat president guy trying to achieve? Why is the guy calling himself dog, so obsessed with Johnny?
>>15011945
I really like how it fleshes out the timeline gap between gryps and char's uprising, as well as UC in general
>all that postwar surplus being used
>monoeyes and visors working together
>mercs and bandits, etc
>>15018752
why?
>>15014985
Holy shit.... Ashtraroth?! Visch Donahue's soul can rest easy now.
B
>>15012066
>snapshit forcing a dumb meme
>that is objectively incorrect
Wow what a shock
>>15018729
It is honestly incredibly interesting and adds a lot of depth to UC.
Every dialogue is a wall of text. How did they expect me to not get bored?
