That's what happens when everyone is demoted to extra cause let's be honest:

Alisa - demoted after Roer
Laura - almost irrelevant other than Duvalie's shenanigans
Gaius - demoted after Nord
Machias - you only know that his dad's hostage but you would forget about that bullshit until the game reminds you 2/3rds of the way in
Elliot - irrelevant after meeting up with his dad. He could have had an awesome moment of rescuing his sister but let's be honest, Neithardt stole the scene on that one.
Sara - irrelevant after her, admittedly awesome scene, making the Northern Jaegers get out of the war which in turn changed the civil war.

Only one's relevant are:
Rean - protagonist plus a shit load of reason why he wants to bring back Crow, who is his canon love interest cause every fucking time he opens his mouth, it's always about Crow. Even on your dormitory bonding scene, you and your chosen partner still talk about Crow.
Emma - biggest ties to the main bad guy who is Vita for the most part and wants to know why Vita did what she did.
Fie - Zephyr's shenanigans of trying to revive their old boss and her dad isn't over yet plus she's a required fight for that part.
Jusis - big brother is an Ironblood and pretty much betrayed every single thing he stood for.
Millium - I would have put her at demoted if it wasn't for the overarching plot of her being made in the Thirteen Factories.

It's hard to imagine anything being more bullshit than FC Earth Wall.

What makes Aerial ridiculous is that it's the only AoE spell ever worth using. As good an area as Fire Bolt or better, plus it's a Set so you can actually put it somewhere useful. None of the other elements have a spell half as useful for nearly every fight, especially with the massive uptick in White Gehenna's EP cost and quartz requirements.

Earth Wall is still really good (at least in late game), despite the substantial increase in cost. Honestly, EP costs become more or less irrelevant by the end of the game. You can end up with absolutely massive EP pools to fuel just about any level of arts spam you want.

Titanic Roar is occasionally worth using as well, since some enemies are just annoyingly uncooperative and won't bunch up enough for Aerial.

But the real winner doesn't do any damage at all. You'll probably see it for the first time right after the end of chapter 3.

My guess is that Ouroboros THINK they are the good guys though, that's why they have a code against needless killing.

They have a similar case of "no mecha of note until the end of the first game," but as long as you're not completely put off by that, I'd highly recommend them.
