Kaede Moriyama finally beat the last punk in Fukushima high, becoming the de facto sukeban. She doesn't plan on stopping there, though, and she begins to plot to take over the city.
Her plans grind to a halt when she meets Ryuga Kamiya, the banchou of Yakumo high. He may be a thug, but he's a trust fund kid, so he was able to get a giant robot built by his family in exchange for agreeing to go to public school instead of private.
To counter this, she and her gang go to steal Ganjinoh, an ancient robot recently dug up by archaeologists. Although old, it appears to respond to Kaede by manifesting unusual abilities that may give it an edge.
She has an indecisive fight with Ryuga, causing the other banchous of the city to brandish their own robots, causing an all-out inter-school war for supremacy. Kaede trains desperately with her master Sanzou to refine her martial arts and ki attacks so she can be ready outside the cockpit as well as have more abilities to use while piloting.
After a few battles, things start to take a turn for the worse as a group of JSDF soldiers arrive at her house. They explain to her that some sinister cabal is funding the other school gangs and they need her to put a stop to them, granting her a suit of advanced armor and a full maintenance team for Ganjinoh as assistance
With these new tools, Kaede must shut down her rivals, find out the motives behind this shadow group and put a stop to them once and for all.

Grandpa and his grandkids get in his juke mech to rescue grandma after she's kidnapped by his old collage rival
A contingent of mankind dwells within a continent-sized starship set for an unknown destination. It's pretty clear the ship is alien in design, but no one remembers how they came to be on it. Technology available to the humans inside the ship is 1950's/1960's. In the outskirts of the main city, our protagonist runs a mechanic shop, mostly maintaining the cars of the local kids. At night, he defends his town from rival gangs with his hot rod, that transforms into a humanoid fighting robot. Over the course of the series, he journeys around the landmasses on the ship, gathering allies in the form of other mech pilots to uncover the mystery of what the ship is and why they're there.

Despite being the son of two war heroes as well as having a very high affinity for anything mechanical, Hideo Itokawa is rejected form just about every military academy in Japan that trains its students in order to fight against the looming threat of an unknown giant beast simply known as "kaiju" due to being unfit to pilot the academy's mechs because of "health reasons".
However this dose not deter him from his dream of one day living up to his parents legacy, and with his mentor mysteriously vanishing leaving their workshop along with everything inside to Hideo, he gets to work. If he can't get in the normal way, he'll just build his way in by desinging a mech he can use from the ground up

The Genre-Typical Earth Federation tracks down a late-40s AI scientist hermit to use his only successful AI as pilot for their new mech, because humans can't process all of the data it receives fast enough. He only agrees if he co-pilots the mech to keep an eye on it.It's not really an AI, it's tech mixed with his dead wife's brain in a jar, who was a hero mech pilot. The AI doesn't know this due to lobotomy-induced amnesia
