How good is IBO, mecha design-wise?

Some designs are shitty.

Some designs are top tier, namely Gusion Rebake.

Most are alright. They have a distinctive flavor to them that helps them stand out compared to other Gundam shows.

I've only really loved the Barbatos 4th form, Barbatos Lupus, Gusion rebake, Kimaris Trooper (except the hover mode, that's dumb) and Vidar.

I feel like there are too many palette swap Grazes with very minor differences (difference skirt and shoulders) and a lot of the other faction suits are boring and unmemorable.

Grimgerde was fucking great where the fuck did that go.

I'll say "great".
Most mecha shows have had at least one or two designs that I thought were just hideous or stupid looking. Geze and Catol, Zock and Zakrello, the thing with the giant knees in Reco, WZC's bishie wings, the legless suicide mech in 00, the dragons with dick-lasers in AGE, etc, etc.
But everything in IBO has looked at least "good" to me, plus several outstanding designs like Full City and Vidar. I know the narrow waist and common-use frames get some hate on /m/, but they don't bother me at all.

Conceptually it's awful. They try to take aspects from Nagano's work on L-Gaim and FSS and don't implement them properly at all. The high heels and thin waists make no sense in the context of the world they're in, especially when all the combat is done with melee weapons instead of beams, so armor DOES matter. It doesn't make them look good either.

However, it does give the designs their own flavor compared to other Gundam shows, but not quite on the same level as say G-Reco or 00's designs.

Could be the best Gundam series design wise we've ever seen.

I think they've been very interesting.
IBO has given us some of the highest quality HG engineering ever accomplished, and the designs are extremely varied when they're not grazes.

I also liked the thin piston waist of the gundam frames from the go, it just added something to really make their silhouettes unique.

I love Graze, its a beautiful grunt. Would probably like it even more if some of the rehash had more character to them.
Barbados being (imo) one of the worst looking suits in the show is a pretty good place to set the bad.
I dont like those Pirate-Hexa models ive seens but the anime made them look better (way to go commercialism)
i really wish they did more to distinguish the Man Rodis from Regular Old Gusion. I like the model but feel they could have both done better if they werent so similar.
Vidar is pretty epic, I liked Kimaris a lot too. I hope to see a 6 legged Vidar-Kimaris...-Graze..
I like Hashamal and the little Drill-Bit that it can jack into. Will hopefully get more Mobile Armours like it, hopefully those Mobile Armours will combine with even more ridiculous things.
Almost forgot Grimegerde, fucking epic. I really hope to see more Valkyrie frames as they come across way more ninja like then the Gundams. A Space Valkyrie Frame would probably be epic

I generally like them, though I tend to be a fan of more unorthodox designs on the whole. Kimaris/Vidar's line has been my favorite set of designs so far. They're certainly unique in any case.

Pretty good to mixed for me.
Below G reco and 00 but above AGE and Build Fighters

I absolutely love Barbatos/Lupis and Astaroth.
But I dont like any of the other gundam suits very much. Not even Gundam Vidar (maybe I need to see it more).

The grunt suits range from uninspired to great.
I liked the Graze until there were like 20 variants.

I wish we would see more Pic related's.

Personally I love the designs.

Even the ones I don't *like* have aesthetics I appreciate, like the Garm Rodi. It's an ugly piece of shit and that's what I like about it.

Barbatos Lupus is great, and Gusion Rebake Full City might be my favorite Gundam ever.
