I'm kind-of okay if it's one-sided. Vidar seems to be purpose-built to take on the Grimgerde. The multiple rapier blades, the thruster-fuck legs, the bladed feet, it's just all there to manage the Grimgerde's strengths and weaknesses. Besides, if we're right and Rustal has the Helmwige, Gali has an advantage in that his sponsor knows the Valkyrie frame's strengths and weaknesses.

A part of me wonders if McGillis is going to somehow get to the Grimgerde to help take on the MA, only for Vidar to come in like a vulture once everything is wrapped up.

Ebikawa confirmed a few things last week on Twitter over the Flauros.

First, that it was a nightmare and considered very difficult to advertise, due to the obvious color scheme of the finished kit basically revealing who the pilot was going to be in the end. (/m/ had been saying this for weeks before it was confirmed)

Second, the Flauros was originally white from head to toe when it was rolled out originally over 300 years ago. When they brought it to Saisei initially they were in the process of cleaning the Gundam up first before reactivating the reactor. (presumed this is why only the upper half was white)

Third, Flauros was said to be one of the last produced (which explains why it was all white and that sort of confirms that they did produce them from 1 through 72) and presumed lost relatively quick after encountering the Hashmal in combat.

I think the main issue remaining to me is tonal. IBO is a yakuza story, full of betrayal, corruption and revenge. A post-Yakuza Files story, which is fine. I love this shit.

The problem is that the show treats it's protagonists like they're pre-Yakuza Files heroes. Like they're noble outlaws who fight for the little man, protecting the towns they are from. This is in direct conflict with Tekkadan's actions in the show, and the rift between them just doesn't work for me.

If later developments try to paint Tekkadan as innocent victims, I will be mad.

Nope, Kudelia and Tekkadan were on GH's shit list since well before that. The reason why the Brewers attacked them in the debris field was not because they just happened to run into them while waiting for trade ships to raid, but because GH asked them. Their leader talks about how doing this for GH will allow them to get the support from GH.

In other words GH would have tried to stop tekkadan from going to earth even if they hadn't stumbled upon the GH regulatory bureau's clandestine operation. Try to remember how Galeio was pissed off that he couldn't go after them with his family's gundam due to Tekkadan being in the middle of the regulatory bureau's operation and going after them at the time would have been interfering with the regulatory bureau's business.

As for why he wouldn't use the Grimgerde, I'd suspect it's a case of differentiating identities. The Grimgerde has been linked with Montag and has taken action against Gjallarhorn; Helmwige, on the other hand, is unidentifiable to most in Gjallarhorn. In the case of this mission to Mars, McGillis is acting as head of the Fareed house rather than as chief of his particular organization.

Compilation movies serve a few purposes. They allow Sunrise to milk fans without spending too much capital. Add a few scenes to expand upon the series (see Azreal's motivation), those of fanservice (Kamille's altered fate) or like video games address or clarify a couple of issues viewers had with the original version.

Beyond that, it also can attract new blood to the product. People who didn't see the TV version can get the story in a few easily digestible chunks rather than sit through each episode. It draws attention, which in turn might draw attention to the Gunpla.

G-Reco had solid ratings but it's timeslot made it inaccessible to a bunch of viewers. And remember, kids don't buy BDs. These movies are a low-risk way of building upon it's initial success, giving the HGs another push while testing the waters for other Gunpla (say a MG G-Self or G-Arcane). Might seem stupid, but it is business after all.

The thing is this, McGillis has made it very clear that he's willing to pile the corpses pretty high in order to realize his dream.
So far in this season he has been able to avoid it, but he's eat a baby if it got him closer to the top.

Seriously, the only way to actually hurt them now is to take away what they've gained: Teiwaz support, two of the three gundams (Mikazuki is all they need anyway), McGillis betrayal, lose out on the mobile armor's remains, etc. But what are the odds of any of that happening. Does it seem... odd to anyone else the nature of Tekkadan's new recruits? I mean, season one brought upon a bunch of negative consequences for the setting as large. Gjallarhorn losing influence has resulted in more armed conflicts popping up, as well as the use of human debris and child soldiers.

Amidst this all, Tekkadan has new recruits. None of them are adults, and they're all thrown into battle. You think in this altered setting that there would be some adults who would try to join the organization that fucked the world. But no, there's none. Adults they have are generally away from the battles doing office work.

So, Tekkadan hired only child soldiers. Didn't give them the AV surgery (saying it in a way to imply moral superiority over the CGS guys), but they hired only child soldiers so that they could fight for a better life for themselves. Like, this detail has been bugging me today. Tekkadan was made so the CGS kids could have a good life, but now they're bringing in outsiders to replenish their ranks while only hiring kids.

IIRC, episode 1 of IBO established that Mars is FLOODED with orphans, so it's no surprise that there's tons of them in the ranks. It is odd that there aren't a lot of adults joining them, but considering that people probably heard about them executing some of the Group 1 guys, I can see adults staying away from Tekkadan.
