Post Transforming mecha ITT

Epyon has one of the worst "transformations." Folding itself in half shouldn't count as a being transformed.

I agree that it's a poor transformation, but I've always thought it was a neat design. An extra hinge in the torso and waist to allow the hips to swing over the head would help a lot I think. Maybe an extra step to the arms too.
Gundam transformations in general tend to be a little half-assed, but their focus on sleek bot modes and and odd altmodes is always a novelty.

Neither should the Wing, or Wing Zero, or Airmaster, or Kyrios, or a shitload of other MS's where all they do is rotate the head and legs.

I love these dopey fat spaceship altmodes.

model kit never, his younger sisters got them all
My favorite 00 design, bar none.
>>14989973
And then you give that bitch some space legs.

Awww yeah Viper 2
>>14987602
The Epyon is so fugly.

Make way, children.
So this is a thing.

Cool, is there one for the Nikick?

I thought the draw of zeta-MS transformations was that they transformed elegantly, that thing looks practically like a mechanical disaster
>inb4 muh realism
and it would look way better without legs
>>14994317
The original and still the best. Scirocco knew what was up.

I respectively disagree - If the transformation was too long winded/essentially totally reconfigured the unit, it'd make no sense considering the mecha is designed for combat and switching modes during battle, unless it had a GaoGaiGar style shield for preventing attacks while it transformed
I love that gunblade beam machine gun.
>>14988500
I refuse to believe that this transforms.
>>14994552
I'm not sure if the model kit transforms, but in V Gundam, the Tomliat transforms into a helicopter.

Sure it looks like a complex clusterfuck going on there, but the same can be said for how the ZZ looked when it transformed. The only difference was fewer outer level parts moving around.

I agree but folding itself in half is how the Hambrabi transforms and somehow it's actually awesome.
Someone needs to do a custom Epyon that looks like a Hambrabi.

This guy is so cool
>>14989839
Love this one

Nigger it's designed to look cool. And it don't.

What is Epyon even supposed to be, a flying eel?
>>14998302
Two-headed dragon bat thing.
With a Gundam head clearly sticking out below.

Post-millenium version.
>>14998302
A Twinferno

> If the transformation was too long winded/essentially totally reconfigured the unit, it'd make no sense considering the mecha is designed for combat and switching modes during battle
Epyon wasn't designed for to be switching modes in the middle of battle. Most MS transformations are meant to be a high-speed and/or energy-efficient transport. Sometimes atmospheric re-entry.
Besides, being a "long-winded" transformation matters little in the case of mecha. The actual time it takes to transform is irrelevant because they can be animated to happen almost instantly like Macross and Gundam. Furthermore, these are kids' shows so dramatic transformations are often more impressive to the target audience than instantaneous ones.
Need space legs

God Escaflowne is so fucking sick dude, and the fact that it can turn into a dragon with reins is hella cool my dude.
>>14989975
Strike Witches?

I used to hate this, but I honestly feel that if a few details were removed it would be amazing.
>>15004176
Oh fuck don't bring that up.
Get that shit out of my life.

Thanks for this.
I've been searching for a couple of good-looking transforming mecha toys for my niece for Christmas, and this fits the bill.
Sadly, modern American Transformers are mostly shit. I'm not hugely familiar with mecha and super sentai outside of the Power Rangers and Transformers shit I played with as a kid (although I still think they're cool), but I know enough to know what's good.
There are so many Bandai toys that actually finding a specific one is difficult. Thankfully, Google searching stuff from /m/ threads has helped.
