Emma switched sides from a moral dilemma, , Reccoca has already started displaying her dangerous streak that will become really relevant later on, Kamille is starting to chill out, and Jerid has been developing his grudge against Kamille.

I think you are overrating that conversation if you genuinely think that it has more character development in it than all of that( + the rest I did'nt mention)

Macross is great, but so is Zeta. The shows are directed in very different ways though. Zeta isn't going to fully make sense until you've completed it and look back on it, most people catch allot of the subtleties and interesting direction choices in retrospect.

Though It should be pointed out that Zeta does have a larger cast( it is only going to get bigger from here on out) so Macross definitely puts more development into each individual character than Zeta does.

zeta is slow as fuck. even for old anime it tends to be slow as fuck with character development and when it does it throws everything at the window after a certain point in the show and in CCA
