This, and they both knew it. Simon wasn't cut out for politics, he didn't particularly like it, and Rossiu handled all the important stuff anyway. Rossiu REALLY shouldn't have tried to burn Simon at the stake to appease the mob and the angry space geometry god, but otherwise he did what he felt was right to help calm the world from Simon's recklessness, develop weapons to combat the threats safely, and figure out a way to survive when it looked like the moon was going to impact the Earth.

He really should've believed in Simon's fighting spirit earlier though. Might've saved him a lot of grief in the end.

All the ships and robots did was hold back Simon and make him rely on it. And don't say it's only because of anti spiral hammer space. That space was specifically made to negate all spiral energy, AS even says so himself. If they weren't there, STTGL would be even bigger. Simon also regenerated mecha body parts as a kid during the earlier arcs just fine.
