What sort of stuff are you looking for? Games go from tabletop simulation to arcade fighter to shooters to GTAish things. Shows with mecha do a bunch of different stuff, too.

What sort of non-mainstream strange things? Such things are generally pretty well known in /m/. Anyways, a lot of anons might not agree with my list, but nixing what you've already listed as seen, I'd recommend the following:

/m/ hasn't known shit about what it talks about for years. Moreso than ever it's become necessary to take everything the board says with a grain of salt, if not outright DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT /m/ SAYS.

Gigantic Army doesn't look pretty and doesn't jump pretty but for five bucks it made me extremely happy to scopedog around.

There's some English SRW such as Original Generation and Original Generation 2 on GBA and easily emulatable. Or the fan translation of alpha gaiden on playstation. Plus the menus are super simple so once you play one you can play a Japanese one pretty easy.
