I just finished it too and didn't want to make a thread because of the spammer that's around. Amuro being missing sucked. He kept saying he wanted to go to space but never showed up. The final battle was pretty weak too. Everything felt so rushed and disjointed.

How come everyone finished it just now?
I finished it yesterday. And god damn, Jerids death was fucking weak.

At first I hated Kamille because he was a whiny kid with no social skills. It made him seem kind of badly written.

But as the show went on, he started calling people out on their bullshit. I enjoyed that. It made it seem less like he was a whiny child and more like he was someone with a little experience or someone who was focused on the task at hand.

I'll admit, I still haven't finished Zeta. It's difficult to marathon because it feels like only one or two things happen per episode, so it can feel like a slog. But I'm slowly working my way through it, a couple episodes a weekend or so.

That's cause Quattro was partially right about him when he said that Amuro thought Char came back to Earth to laugh at him. Between the government agents keeping him on lockdown, PTSD from the OYW, and guilt over killing Lalah and fear of encountering her ghost again, Amuro subconsciously did not want to return to space, and knew that he was being a coward with his excuses. That's partially why he was attracted to Beltorchika, because she gave him a reason to not go back. Meeting Frau and Katz gave him a reason and an escape back into the fray, but it would take a while before he's ready to go back into space again.

Otherwise Amuro was a member of Karaba, not the AEUG, and Karaba was entirely ground-focused.

She only appears a handful of times in ZZ and her attitude is basically "my brother never got over the past, but I have and he's not my problem". She doesn't say she's gonna take care of him at all.

It would have been nice if Tomino had gotten 52 episodes instead of 50.Char probably got the best treatment in the final battle. It would have been nice to see a sustained duel between Yazan and Kamille, and for Reccoca and Emma to go for it longer than they did. It lacks the kind of thematic "wow" factor you expect in a finale in an anime. I think it traded that in for a bunch of quick and brutal deaths, where everyone kind of just got tossed aside. It fits the oppressive and desperate atmosphere of the show really well, but as mecha porn it could have been better.

She mentions in an earlier episode to Fa that the reason why she loves dangerous missions and is all fucked up is because of her experiences when fought as an insurgent in the OYW on the Moon. Given that it is the only back story we have of her, and she isn't raped during the course of the series, it is implicit that that is where it happened, especially since they are talking about how fucked up she is, which we know resulted from her experiences in the OYW from the earlier episode.

That's part of why the line works well in the final battle, it wouldn't be a shock to the audience if they already knew that she was raped. It added on to what we already knew and was coherent with it, while being something that makes her character make more sense and be a bit more sympathetic. It was a good way to send her off imo.
